Gold Rolex on the beach
So I’m going to Miami next week, as I do many time within a year, but this time around I have a new watch. The yg black dial sub 116618LN. I’ve had a stainless steel Rolex sub (2 different variations for about 12 years and I would wear that in anybody of water. Salt water ocean, chlorine pool, fresh water lakes etc... but never went with a solid gold piece. Do you guys think i should leave the gold one at home or maybe just wash it with regular water after the beach each day? Pretty conflicted on what to do but really want to take the watch with me
P.s. my 2 piece Rolex submariner collection below Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I worn my 116618 swimming in saltwater multiple times, it’s an awesome beach watch. For Miami you should go gold!
A gold sub is just as good with the elements as steel one, water wont hurt it. Isn’t 18k gold actually more resistant to corrosion than 904L steel?

Gold is a noble metal. If corrosion is your concern, you should be more worried about your SS sub than the gold one.

I believe so. Just being cautious I guess as this is a serious watch and wouldn’t want to damage it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wear the Gold it looks awesome. What a beautiful watch.
For both your watches, rinse them after being in the sea or pool. |

I wear my stainless down here (South Florida) in the ocean all the time but if I had gold it would be my first choice.

Rinsing is fine but the problem is the sand not sea water. You’re going to have sunscreen on you which will get onto the watch..which will have sand stick to it. The sand will cause scratching on the gold big time. So with that in mind I tend to leave gold at home and take steel to the beach.

Makes sense. All though I never really use sunblock the sand issue might be the real reason to not wear it to the beach and maybe just to the pool Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wear the gold, wash it, rinse, repeat the next day. Enjoy Miami.

Gold vs. SS @ MB
Gold resists seawater induced corrosive factors better than stainless. So on that score, safer with Gold... The sand isn’t going to scratch your watch - lived there for years - even body surfing had zero effect. Now walking along the Avenue, I’d say safer with SS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I know Miami very well. Have a place in sunny isles. Growing up I always say my dad and his friends always had gold rolexes on the beach. I’m finally at the point where I bought my first one and I intend on wearing it on the beach now with my friends. Rolex tradition lives on lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Gold Rolex on the beach
Ah so - Sunny Isles is very nice.
Much better in 33160 than 33139! I presumed you were quintessential NY visitor who migrate to SOBE. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
