GP Laureato Line & Request for wrist shots
Hi All,
So this is quite an admission of my ignorance, but I've only very lately become familiar with Girard Perregaux and the Laureato line in particular has caught my eye. I've owned a few nice watches, including an AP Royal Oak and a Patek Aquanaut that I didn't really click with for whatever reasons, and have been keeping an eye open for something to add to a small collection (Rolex GMT, Hublot Classic Fusion Chrono Ceramic, Omega Seamaster) and wanted something that feels "above" an Omega/Rolex etc but isn't quite at the price point of an AP/Patek these days (keeping in mind a Royal Oak is now a £60k+ watch, a Patek Nautilus £90k+. Not comfortable wearing these sums on my wrist). Anyhow, on my last trip to Watches of Switzerland I caught a Laureato out the corner of my eye as I was leaving the shop and thought "wow that looks SO much better in person" compared to my perception of what a GP was, but it was as I was leaving and I didn't turn around to try it on. Fast forward a few months, end of year, decent year at work, a few other financial commitments taken care of and a new watch is a realistic present to self for Christmas. So I went and tried on both the GP Laureato Chrono Panda and the Blue Dial 3 hander. Both really blew me away, this watch seems one of the games best kept secrets! Top quality, in house movement, brand with heritage dating back to 1700's, a design that came BEFORE the Nautilus, Piaget Polo, Ingenieur etc. And you can actually try one on, and actually buy one, at less than list price? What the hell Anyway, order placed, hoping it lands tomorrow but in the meantime I have been reading up on the various Laureato's - the absolute, the titanium, the skeleton etc. So to keep me entertained until the arrival of my new watch I'd be very grateful if any happy owners can share wrist shots of their Laureato, or indeed other GP's (already thinking about a 1966 next ) Cheers and festive greetings! |

I have been contemplating the skeleton recently but it looks to wear really big so sadly, maybe not for my skinny wrists

Well maybe not the skeleton then but this is really one of the benefits of Laureato line-up, they have a 38mm version for the skinny wrist people.

I already have a blue face overseas so the laureato is too similar I think. Think I would get a 38mm skeleton if they ever made one but I'm not hopeful

I’d be on that same boat. Although the white ceramic 38mm collab with Bamford is pretty cool…in a summer at my fancy seaside 5th home kinda way. Less so day to day on the subway/tube !

I have been really considering this watch and to a lesser extent the Laureato. Both are gorgeous. I just don't know what they add to my collection as I already have a VC overseas and RO.

Have you tried both on? Interesting quote seeing as in they both have that stigma of a +40mm integrated bracelet watch that “wears bigger” due to the lack of total flexibility of the bracelet at the end link. I’m looking at both for a potential next piece. |

GP Laureato Line & Request for wrist shots
I own both.
They wear similarly. The dial on the Chopard is definitely smaller in appearance, as the bezel is substantially wider. The GP is simpler in design, as the Chopard has the exposed bezel screws and more obvious contours to the case. The bracelet on the Chopard is a bit heavier and interesting to me. But both watches have the same heft and presence on the wrist. |

Excellent perspective. I love watches that have that effect of the dial looking smaller due to certain design elements. I think that’s why these watches with colored bezels are more popular lately. Black dial black bezel makes the whole display appear larger. The pop of color around a usually black dial constrains the dial to a smaller area, visually. Anyway, I digress. Thanks for the reply. Would lean towards the chopard due to smaller appearance and the fact that that eagle eye dial seems superior in every way. |

Thank you all for these, loving the shots. Annoyingly mine hasn't arrived yet, but have enjoyed these in the meantime :D
The dial on the Chopard is stunning, but the placement of the date window makes it a no go for me. Lovely alternative though, thanks for sharing! |

I feel the skeleton wears bigger and the open work isn’t as complicated as AP, for me this 42mm thickness is right on the comfort spot for me, I love wearing this even more than AP ROs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’m really curious about the Laureato in comparison to the Alpine Eagle. When I saw the Chopard in real life I was almost sold immediately, but I’ve never seen the Laureato yet. Anyone who can comment on who has handled them both?

This is great - how do you find having them both? Just a different enough or any redundancy? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
