I was hoping that the new line would be reimagined and modern.

Far from it !

VC are up there with adidas in their brand insecurity. Where adidas has its unnecessary three stripes on top of the usual brand placement, with VC it’s the Maltese cross

x2! At least a little bigger would have been nice.

Hopefully this will prove really successful and they will make some more iterations. Still a nice watch, albeit small.

this makes overseas look even so much better than what it is already appreciated for. I thought the new 222 will look somewhat modern. Can't believe it literally looks the same as in the 1970s.

Those Instagram comments of Tissot PRX stick out like a sore thorn.

I was really looking forward to it and must admit I am underwhelmed.

At least can someone tell me about its movement?

I would also have expected it to be a few mm larger, like 38-39mm at least. I think its cool that they do release the watch, better than it not happening. But also not fully sure, someone mentioned there will be a steel version as well. Is that coming later then?

Someone also said its limited, but no official info if its limited or not..

Re-releasing the same watch in terms of look and feel some 50 years later is an interesting experiment. Disregarding price I would think most people would opt for a preowned OG instead. Still a pretty watch either way but somehow I find it more dated now that it is available new again.

Tend to agree on VC - trying to place the cross everywhere on the Overseas, for example - but disagree on adidas. Adi famously helped us win the 1954 Worldcup with his football boots. They can keep their three stripes. LOL

I do not think that keeping 37mm size is a minus. The contrary instead. In a running age of extra sized watches, good that for some ref with solid character there is no need to follow such fashion trend.
I think that this is a great watch, but with a couple of remarks vs the original 222:
- 1 mm thicker case due to new in house movement
- case no more monobloc

I’m a fan of the 37mm size as well. Glad they didn’t concede to the silly, gaudy hubcap movement—and there are plenty of options in the larger sizes already.

I just wish they were offering this is in ss too.

And I wouldn’t complain if they’d reissues the 2215 as well.

Altogether, though, this feels (literally) very on-brand for VC.

I agree with OP - this release is beautiful. For VC, I think 37mm is very wearable because the end links are rigid like AP's? Anyway, not 100% sure if that is the case for this bracelet cos haven't tried on the wrist.

Not something I would wear, personally (it's way too small for me). I was also expecting a slightly more modern interpretation.

Once again, like with RO, it's a replica of the great model of the past, minus the solid ethos of doing things the hard yet beautiful way.

What's the price and are they in the boutique already? Love the original 222 and could see buying this as a consolation price, but not if the price is upward of 50k.

They had told me 39mm so I’m surprised it’s 37
Maybe the steel will be 39 but that would be strange

I think it’s gorgeous and appreciate the smaller size. I do worry that the emphasis on reissues signals a reluctance to innovate and experiment. I love VC as a brand and they need to be looking forward as much as back.

$62,500. I called and asked this morning. No fixed number production but extremely limited quantities per year.

Oh my that bracelet is just divine. It's so thin. This is in the Historiques line and not Overseas so they nailed the 37 mm size. So many integrated bracelet fans can finally wear a watch that is made as finely as AP and actually fits their wrist!

Bravo to VC!

Oh my that bracelet is just divine. It's so thin. The 37 mm size is perfect as well. Most wearing AP and DD40 would look far classier in this size gold watch.

Thanks for sharing the list price, it’s not on the IG yet.

222 is such a classic, I guess it’s gonna be a long wait list!

Must be a boutique not just an AD. If you don't have a boutique call them at the eBoutique asap and register your interest.

Anyone want to hazard a(n admittedly pointless) guess as to what the (admittedly hypothetical) steel version will retail for?
