Cartier beige dumont

Did anyone else see the article Hodinkee wrote on this limited edition Santos Dumont?? I think this is a stunner if a watch and love the vintage vibe. It’s a limited edition out of 250 and my boutique said it’s releasing in November. I’ve been looking for an entry point into Cartier and maybe this is the one. Anyone else thinking about pulling the trigger on this beauty???

Looks sharp. I’ve toyed with the idea of a santos for years just haven’t figured which one. I wouldn’t fault you for liking this. It’s a good look.

It’s very neat, much than the others IMO. However I can’t get last the spiky crown. Vintage editions of santos were so much better. A real vision back then, far from the marketing department meddling.

I've got a Santos de Cartier & considering a Tank although when I got the call for the Solarbeat the Dumont really caught my eye. Thin, dressy and probably quite versatile with straps & for a PM piece it's very reasonable.

The only thing about this limited edition is that it looks like a medium size which I think is rather small for a guy but ymmv

Yeah I put my name down for it, thought it looked really nice and pretty reasonably priced. No idea if I’ll be able to get one though!

I like it, not enough to own it but enough to admire it from afar.

I love this Santos and have a deposit on one. Now I haven’t heard yet if it’s secured but my chances may be good

Did you have to pay for it when you put your name down? My sales associate told me I have to pay in full to secure.

Once they’re able to confirm they’ll have one for me they’ll take 40% deposit apparently.

I did not. I was asked by the jeweler for a deposit only. Jewelers don’t know if they will get any and have to request one, so even full pay doesn’t guarantee one, at least the way I see it.

I have one too, but I'm majorly considering getting this or the rose gold Dumont.

But is it just me or does the strap look brown to me and not green in the slightest? In the article

Hi, visited W&W yesterday invited by Cartier. Tried on several pieces (Tank Chinoise, Santos Dumont, Crash). At the end, I decided to buy the Santos Dumont in beige, I could also pick the number of the watch, I signed a document confirming the delivery in December 2022, deposit is 40 per cent. The watch is stunning and must be seen in person to really appreciate the beauty of the colour. I suggest you calling your Cartier boutique and ask for an allocation asap, watch is very hot.

I called my boutique to ask about the discrepancy of the numeral colors. Can you verify which photo is correct? The hodinkee article has black numerals….

Haha good spot. Wonder if it isn’t just the reflection. Hands also look black in Hodinkee picture but I’d be surprised if they actually were.

Love it

Only wish they also made it in men size.
31.4 is pretty ridiculous

31.4 X 43.5 but the 43.5 is including lugs
So it’s more like 31,4 X 31,4….. and they call that large… yes maybe in 1940

One thing to remember is that square watches wear very differently than round — it's hard to do a "dimensions to dimensions" comparison.

If you look the actual surface area of the watch, it's like 1366 sq. mm. Compare that to a 42mm round watch which is 1385 sq. mm. That's pretty close (assuming I'm remembering how to calculate area of both a rectangle and circle correctly). If you remove the lugs, then it's like 986 sq mm for the Cartier — so closer to a 36mm round watch.
