Vintage Omega Service Costs?

I've got an Omega 176 and it's due for a service. It's losing enough time where I notice it. Id like to get it pressure tested, new gaskets and all just to be safe. I bet it's gonna be a lot $500 right?? It's no use if it doesn't keep decent time and if it can potentially leak water in. What's your guys experience on vintage Omega servicing? Kinda of a must to keep these watches going.

Wow, cool Omega!

Service from Omega for your watch starts at $750. It's possible your watch falls into a category of watches that all go to a special team at Omega HQ in Switzerland for service, but I'm not sure on that. If so, then you can expect remarkably thorough, top-quality results. When you send it to Omega Customer Service in the USA they'll make the determination whether it gets forwarded to Bienne.

Here's where you can find info on service provided by Omega: https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/c...ons-and-prices

What an amazing watch, worth every cent to keep in tip top shape.

The best bet here is an estimate if you don't have a capable independent. Not sure if they would have parts access, but for a vintage piece common parts could be out there and the watchmaker might be able to get what's needed if anything.

I had a vintage Omega sent to the Toronto service centre last year and they said it had to go to Switzerland. The cost was comparable to their modern watch service costs, less any parts Omega HQ "recommends" the watch needs.

Keep us posted!

Update - Quote is $648 for a full service and a seconds lever. Apparently the lever was worn out. He said 4 weeks till compete but will call if it gets done sooner. The watch was losing time and had a sticky chrono hour reset. I had to press the reset 2-3x to get it back. The watch needed a service and im happy with the price. This is by an independent locally. They've been around for many years.

I'll post an update when I get it back and some pictures

Got it back! Most noticeable difference is how smooth the rotor moves. It winds and ratchets like butter now. It sounds crispy and clean when it swings around. Havent had it back long enough to test +- seconds per day yet. I have a 1 year warranty also.

Food for thought is routine service prevents metal on metal wear. Considering how much money individual parts are. For example the lever I had to replace. You'll end up paying for it at some point if you prolong the service.

Nicely done. How many years was it from the last service?
