I think I have Rolex most undervalued Sport Rolex…
One of Rolex most beautiful models is IMO the red 1680…it has it all, fat lume plots, incredible ROLEX writing, nice sleek lugs and more and you can pick them up at 20k US and upwards!!
I mean, they should be at a strong 100k by now, considering the boost that the Sport Rolexes have had and these red 1680 pieces are so rare! Opinions? Some pics: |

Love the classic red sub You would be surprised how just a little bit of red text breaks up the monotony of black and white.
As for being undervalued, it’s not. It is definitely appreciated by the vintage enthusiast. Thankfully, the hype crowd don’t typically have an eye for the classics. |

Let's not forget that a few years ago, vintage was all the rage and people were generally astounded by how much many vintage pieces were going for.
The script has somewhat been flipped, to the point where vintage can seemingly feel undervalued at the moment. My thoughts are that things will stabilize and vintage will again rise a tad, once we're off the modern kick. As for me - definitely a beautiful watch but just not as easy to take care of / as robust as even 5-digit pieces, so I'm over vintage...for now!

Red Subs are really cool. But 100k for an old Sub that you can’t take diving or even get caught in the rain? Even at 20k, I’ll pass.

Last Saturday I understood why: wear a ceramic then go to try a 5 digit or even worst 4 digit and it will feel so cheap..believe me bad surprise. I sold all my 4/5 digit for patek models but that’s another story |

Great photos, a big piece of the Rolex Submariner‘s history, my favorite Sub, truly a piece to enjoy. Thank you

Question for all. If you buy a Red Sub, and it’s legit, but heavily worn (say faded lume, rusty hands, badly scratched case, faded dial), and you send it to RSC, what happens? Do they replace the dial with a service Red dial, for instance? Thanks!

The watch that made a sub a sub. Thank you for sharing. Nice watch.

If it didn't have the date, it would be perfect. :-)

Love it and would rather have it over five digit, six digit, or (gasping) Patek model.
Also, I never had any trouble hot tubbing with my 1680 or mmf 5513. I wouldn't hot tub with my 6105 or 5508, but sure they could be pressure tested if I wanted to. I agree with you 100%. Surprised by a few of the comments. |

I would never sell my four digits to buy anything as garish and cookie-cutter like as a ceramic. They lack style, charm, classic looks, and timeless elegance. They’re machine-made and soul-less. |

I own multiple subs and I think there is room for 4 digit/5 digit/ceramic. We all have different taste and that is why Rolex has multiple models. To enjoy and appreciate what you have doesn't have to include putting down what you don't.

The 1680 Red is a very nice watch. Not sure it's undervalued, though - I think we're looking more at 25 - 30k for a nice one these days. Maybe some of the other models are just overvalued. Yes, I'm looking at you, Daytona. Now, the Milgauss 1019 - there's an undervalued watch. |

Yeah, don’t do that unless you want a Swiss red dial, and are able to secure one from RSC. Otherwise, send it to one of the trusted watchmakers here to have it sympathetically serviced. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
