Should I get a Cookie Monster?

Hi All,

My AD just got one in and I can buy it.

I'm somewhat new to Rolex and am wondering how rare these are and will they hold value like a smurf or starbucks?

No buying it to sell it, more like if something happened and I needed to sell it, is it a good store of value.

Let me know what yall think!

If you don't like it and want to wear it then its not worth it. There's some posted on the forum in the $45-47K range (asking price, not selling yet) and they seem to be selling in the low 40's. The means retail + tax and you've lost money near term as of today- so buy it to wear and enjoy, it's not a quick flip for instant profit. If it follows the trajectory of the original smurf then values could decline further and only come back up if it gets discontinued.

I just bought this one. It was a good value and probably going to do well as an investment.

I like. But I'd want to wear it as the tool watch it is and am afraid I'd get the white gold case and bracelet banged up in no time. So I'd likely pass.

Did you express interest in it previously? If so, why are you asking us whether you should buy? If not, why is an AD offering a watch that others have likely expressed interest in to someone who has not?

Do you mean the WG Sub? If so, my husband picked one up at the AD Saturday and really likes it. I would say buy one if you can.

Don't say we didn't warn 'ya:

Cookie Monster is a voracious monster and one of the main characters on Sesame Street. Covered with blue fur and possessing a pair of googly eyes, Cookie Monster has an insatiable appetite. As his name implies, his primary craving is cookies, but he can (and often does) consume anything and everything, from apples and pie to letters, flatware, and hubcaps. When Cookie Monster eats something, he makes a very distinct, loud munching "noise", often interpreted as "OMM-nom-nom-nom..."

Cookie Monster has a deep, growly voice, and generally speaks with simplistic diction — for instance, saying "Me want cookie!", as opposed to "I want a cookie!". Cookie occasionally displays an unexpectedly complex vocabulary, however, and is at his most gentrified when in his Alistair Cookie persona, hosting Monsterpiece Theater.

All jokes aside… I haven’t logged in in about 2 months. What did I miss? Which watch are we referring to as “Cookie Monster”? Im a grown a__ man and would not refer to my watch as a Kermit, Batman, Cookie Monster or any other character… but Im still curious

White gold submariner with blue bezel and black dial. Looks like the cookie monster colorway :)

Soft drink nicknames have been done to death, so the collective has moved into Sesame Street characters since you last logged in.

Blue Sub - Cookie Monster.
Yellow dial OP - Big Bird.
Red dial OP - Elmo.
Grape dial OP - Count von Count.
Next BLRO rendition - Grover.
Olive DayDate - Oscar the Grouch.

conceptually I know the difference between the cookie monster and a smurf, but i certainly couldn't tell you with any specificity the color difference between the two.

Exactly

Guys just buy what you like. It’s a luxury purchase. Meaning you might not have the “luxury” of making any money but if you truly love the watch the money shouldn’t matter

I have never and I repeat never considered my profits or losses on any watch I’ve ever bought. That goes for pieces I’ve bought from as low as $2000 to as high as $70k
