Just FYI, when Cartier brought US ADs back into their network a few years ago they told the ADs absolutely no discounts on their timepieces as it would be undercutting their official boutiques. YMMV especially globally.

Tried on a large in a different dial/bezel config and actually really like it. Must be the darker dial that makes the watch feel smaller.

I have a big pilot which most think is too large and in general like larger watches, but this does look big on your wrist. Maybe it looks larger since you are clinching your fist.

this one looks fine though. The distance of the photo matters as well.

Well, pulled the trigger on the WSSA0037. I tried on a few mediums (SS and TT) and this one and just really liked it. AD was great too. Thanks for all of the opinions. Enjoy the weekend!

Both sizes look good to me, which one you like more just takes that one.

Looks great! I do agree that the black looks smaller than the white.

For what it's worth, I's go with the medium. But it's your wrist and your watch.

I just googled the Cartier Santos and there are some interesting articles which talk about the large vs. medium. There's a notable difference in size between the two, especially in the thickness of each. Also a lot of photos. Might be a good idea to read these over before making your choice.

Congrats! What a f’ing awesome watch! And talk about heritage - that’s basically the descendent of the first pilot watch ever made, and possibly the first wrist-borne time piece on general.

Great choice!

I would have chosen the medium, but you are right, the black dial give the appearance of wearing smaller than the lighter dial. I think this is true of many watches in general.

Cartier has never been on my radar, but I watched the Hodinkee video where all the employees zoom chatted their most worn watch for the year, there were quite a few that had the Santos, and it made me take notice. I like it.

Congrats on your new Santos. Looks great!

prefer the medium for its size and no date.

the integration of the bracelet lends the watch to being suitable at the smaller size imho.

You picked awesome. Congrats. I will say they need these other dials in the medium size too. They have the classic in medium and the fun stuff in large

I went and tried on both the large and medium today. It's a tough choice. I have a 7" wrist and I can definitely go either way. Looking down at them on my wrist I preferred the large. Looking at them in the mirror I preferred the medium. I was expecting it to be any easy choice once seeing them in the flesh. As of now I am leaning toward the medium.

I was pretty set on going with the white dial but this version looks better than I thought.

Were you able to get a discount?

Congrats on a great purchase!

I may be in the minority, but even the medium looks too big.

Thanks for all the comments. I’ve worn the Santos every day since I picked it up. One thing I really like is the bezel and dial combo. Sportier than the white in my opinion. One other note is I think the adlc coating on the bezel makes it far more scratch resistant than the high polish which is a common complaint / comment you hear. Overall - love it.

Cheers.

Cartier Santos size opinion

I think it looks plenty big on you.

I tried the large chrono and medium time only on today - I have a 7.5” wrist. The chrono felt like the right size, but only comes on a flimsy rubber strap (very disappointed), which rolled up as I attempted to fit it over my hand to try it on.

The medium time/date Santos looked a lot better and the bracelet felt well built and easy to try on. I have thought many watches like a Rolex Daytona feel too small for my wrist, but this Santos medium did not feel too small, even on my larger wrist.

As a clarification, I have that adlc Santos and it’s a “large”not a medium. They don’t make that in a medium with the adlc bezel. The silver dial in medium comes without a date.

I think they both look good on you.
