I'm looking for a watch I can wear regularly and that I can get my money out of fairly easily. I'd love some thoughts on this

You can wear any Rolex watch regularly.

Nobody should buy a watch with the idea of getting their money out of it, although it is possible with every SS Rolex watch.

Not sure I agree.

Nice watches should not only be for the elite. Whilst i would never recommend buying a watch as an investment, there is nothing wrong with considering how easy it might be to move it on and cash-in if required.

OP - my tip would be (a) go with steel and avoid precious metal, and (b) go lower end (much bigger market for low end than top end if needing to move on).

I would highly recommend a GMT II 16710 or a Submariner 16610. A nice complete set would be even better. They are both priced reasonably with the GMT IIs selling for a couple thousand more than the Submariners.

They have been appreciating for years now and both are highly desirable and easy to sell.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting a nice watch and it’s natural to hope for equity preservation if you need to sell later.

Hot watch tips are not unlike hot stock tips. I can’t say which one you’d like or which will appreciate in value. For your first one, do some thoughtful comparisons and include pre-owned in your quest.

Rolex is one brand that holds its own in terms of demand - so if you had to sell in a hurry you’d have less trouble than other brands that have lower demand.

I'd recommend a steel daytona. Great for everyday wear and probably one of the easiest watches to sell.

If I'm in a tough spot and need to sell/pawn my watch to get home, I'm happiest to be selling an Omega or a Rolex because these are the most recognizable internationally. An emergency sale like that you get pennies/nickels on the dollar anyway, so it's best to have something that is universally recognizable.

This is different from a leisurely decision to sell when other priorities emerge (unexpected child expenses, talkative blackmailer, pharmaceutical enthusiasm), where an appropriate buyer or venue can be selected, rather than persuaded.

Any Rolex oyster that is 36mm or larger fits your criteria, as long as you don't overpay. What watches do you like?
