I have a really small wrists, and my Sub14060M has been very uncomfortable to wear to do the clasp not centered properly. The fit was also either too loose or too tight. Thanks to TOOLS, another member here, he suggested I remove a permanent link on my Sub14060M six o'clock side. Great idea, but i did not want to mess with my bracelet. I decided to go on a hunt for a used 93150 bracelet to do this work on versus the original, and keep the original stashed away. I had a hard time sourcing the bracelet for a price that I could live with, until Steve Mulholland found ONLY a six o'clock side of the bracelet hanging around in his parts bin. No twelve o'clock links, clasp or endlinks. Which is fine because I really only needed the six o'clock side to perform the bracelet canabolism. Well it gets even better...come to find out, the previous owner, had already performed this work on that set of links, and removed a permanent link. Interestingly, that person removed the third permanent link and not the last permanent (4th), and then reatached the 4th link to the 2nd. It looks even been that way (IMO), where you would imagine the the 4th link being removed looking a tad better. Amazing! There is a small gap between the 2nd and 3rd link but it is hardly noticable. Couldn't have worked out any better for me, and most importantly, the removal of the link has made a world of difference.

Thank you Steve M, you were great to work with, and still can't believe how this all worked out for us both.

I have no idea Stevo. That is the cool thing. I purchased the links from Steve M and they already had the work performed prior to them ending up in his parts bin. He just happened to have it. Couldn't have worked out better for me.

Great post Aaron! I am in the same situation right now and I have been debating whether I want to remove a permanent link. I am pretty sure I will be keeping this watch for a long time so I will probably get RSC to remove the 4th permanent link on the 6 o'clock side. Do you think it will look ok?

could have adjusted the micro-pin on the clasp for a tighter fit without removing a permanent link, looks like two more notches tighted. Still looks good tho

That won't work Matt. When you tighten a micro-pin it moves the clasp more towards the 12 o'clock side, as you loose more bracelet on that side. In my situation, my clasp was all the way over to that right side and the micro adjustment only had one more hole available. It would have made the clasp too tight and then over to the right side even more.

Titan1979, it will look great, and should be more comfortable for you, if you have the same comfort issue I have. If you are concerned like me about canabolizing your original bracelet, then I would start hunting for a used one and have someone do it for you who has done it before. Maybe you'll get lucky and find a decent bracelet. You only need one side, and in my case, I got real lucky and Steve had just that. Remember, i'm still using the other side of the orginal bracelet.

Interesting solution. Seems more complicated to remove a link that way, but it seems to work.

I always remove a permanent link on the six o'clock side on all the old style bracelets (93150, 78360... etc). On the latest style Oyster there are more removable links. I have a fairly skinny wrist and prefer a tight fit.

The result was pretty much perfect for you, as it is for me!

Removing a permanent link from the 6 o'clock side has become so common, I think that is why all the latest bracelets come with an extra removeable link on that side...

Permanent link removal for us sparrow wrist owners is the way forward, love the fit of mine since number 4 link got chopped.

I need to do the same thing....but I just got a brand new bracelet for my vintage gmt master and can't bring myself to cut it.

I have heard that all you have to do is pull the two sides of the link with pliers to break it down

I just rang my AD in Brisbane to see if they can do it and they reckon they've never heard of anyone wanting to remove a permanent link. In fact, she was quite rude about it even after I explained the situation:-

AD: "Why on earth would you want to do that!?"

Me: "Umm, for the reasons I just gave you; the clasp is not centred [etc]...You can only remove one link on the 6 o'clock side [etc]..."

AD: "Well, I have never heard of anyone wanting to do that..."

Ask to see the watchmaker on site. I always do when it comes to technical issues. This way I find that I have a good and growing relationship with several skilled watchmakers, that helps me with good service and advice.
