Are PM daytonas hard to get also?

I know its nearly impossible to get SS daytonas at ADs but what about the PM models? 2 years ago my AD told me if I fancy a pm daytona they can order it for me and it will arrive in 2 weeks, what about now?

Mainly looking at the 116518LN and 116519LN.

These seem better value than paying 36k for a SS anyway. And with the 116519LN I can swap in a oyster bracelet if I fancy it and I will have the "impossible to get white ss", not that I will do it lol, what a world we live in huh, getting a white gold daytona to imitate an SS model.

They are hard to come by. You can’t just order one like a year ago without some pull. If there’s a grey market premium it’s not easy to get as a rule of thumb.

They are hard to get without purchase history. All professional models, including PM, are allocated.

You can’t add an oyster bracelet to a PM Daytona with Oysterflex. You can’t even add a PM bracelet. Oysterflex always stays on Oysterflex.

Yeah, welcome to the craziness. Even the way less sought-after two tone Daytonas can be tough to source from an AD these days, although you can snag one pretty easily (and with relatively smaller markup) on the secondary market. But yeah, SS and WG is a tough proposition for sure.

What is said about interchangability is not exactly true. There have been at least half a dozen 16518’s ive seen on a bracelet.

U would need a watchmaker and about 10-20k for bracelet. Keep endlinks of course. They slide under bezel. I would be tempted to go that route personally if i were to buy a new gold daytona and wanted a ceramic bezel.

Im partial to zenith daytonas personally, but they all are pretty special imo.

You can modify it using aftermarket parts, but it will not look right.

I tried a while back and it didn’t look right. Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture.

I too remember a time 2 years ago when the cases were full of PM Daytonas on bracelet and oysterflex. Datejusts, Day Dates, Yachtmasters and Oyster Perpetuals were also filling the cases. My AD told me that if I purchased a white gold Daytona on OF that he could add me to the list for a stainless steel Daytona. Times have changed.

Yes PM Daytonas are hard to get now.

In fact every model is basically hard to get now. Even platinum models

Regrettably, yes. I have a good relationship with my main AD and was told that it'd take about a year to get the oysterflex model that I requested. On the bright side, I am hoping that Rolex upgrades the clasp to a mini-glidelock in the meantime.

2020 RG Daytona -> waiting time 2 months
2021 OP36 -> waiting time 6 months and counting

It's harder, yes. But also last year I came across YG Daytona green dial and Rainbow Daytona in the flesh. Spectacular watches but unfortunately I lack sufficient funds...

At the new Boston Boutique last weekend there were none, zero, zip... plenty of DJs but no PMs of any sort.

Full gold Daytona’s are nearly as hard as the SS versions in my place, especially the green.

TT Daytona’s are still relatively easy to get.

The aftermarket pricing on OF Daytona’s might actually be dumber than the SS ones. I couldn’t believe my eyes at these prices in the mid 40’s...

I took a Zenith Daytona in to my AD this morning for a service, made sure I was wearing my platinum day date and my wife was wearing her YG mid size datejust with diamond dot dial and ordered a YG Daytona with meteorite dial while I was there. I couldn't have schmoozed the guy any more and I proved to him that I am a collector not a seller. No idea whether I'll ever see it, we'll see..... Retail order £32k

Yes, OF Daytonas are harder to get now. I placed an order for the 116518LN with my AD last week. She said it could take up to a year to receive (no ETA from Rolex).

You used to be able to get PM tool watches easily, and typically at a discount to MSRP.
Not anymore. More people got a lot richer over the last 7 or 8 years and the SS demand has spilled over to PM.

I was supposed to have obtained the last and final WG Daytona of the year a month ago, according to my SA from their shop....I believe they only got two 072 dialed, in the last year or so.

So, yes everybody now wants full gold, PM's!

I suppose I was just super lucky. Walked into the local AD May 8 and walked out with a 116503. Been wearing it everyday since! I like the black dial with the gold!

I had wanted a new 41mm Sub, and I never thought I'd see a Daytona available to purchase from an AD.

Super lucky and super happy!!!
