MKII Kingston/Nassau or Frankenwatch or Nada

I'm a huge Bond fan but will never be able to afford the iconic 6538. Would you get a homage considering it was extremely well made by a world-class watchmaker, create/buy a custom frankenwatch, or just refrain? 5513 doesn't do it for me.

I'd just refrain, got enough disingenuous pieces on the market taking advantage of the vintage heat, no need to fan it on.

No frankenwatches. Never ever. Better to buy a modern Sub IMHO and let it wear in.

Refrain. There are a lot of watches I like but will never own but a homage or frakenwatch would not make me happy.

I wouldn't pay MK2 prices for a copy. And other companies have just as good qc. It isn't just him, that has been a statement used to justify the companies 3-6 year wait times.

I bought a Frankenstein 2 tone Sub by mistake
or before researching enough and was disgusted!!!
That said , I was fortunate enough to return it
9 months later for a full refund only because in the
meantime the jeweler was supposed to get me another
One 100% legit to reference and couldn't deliver !!!
I say NO!!! You'll be much happier

Thanks for the input. I wonder with this type of one-sided feedback, how he not only sells out every tine, but also has waitlists and people putting down large down payments? Plus I see that these watches are selling for a premium on the second hand market??

He use to sell out. But even some of his regular buyers are getting pissed about no communication for years. He still has slots available for some of his offerings. I think on his Key West which has been in development for around 5 years he is only at the 2nd round of deliveries, and 10 rounds of people have paid. So that means in 3-4 more years he might have them all delivered.

But if you feel comfortable about giving someone money for a watch you might get in 6 years then go for it. I don't.

I wont invest in a ponzi scheme.

Would you buy it if the watch were readily available, and his delays were nonexistent?

Not at a premium price. And I am not big on copies honestly.
