Wearing the 5165 Today

I love everything about this watch but haven’t been wearing it as much lately. Perhaps it’s the two 6-year olds at home. Either way, back working in the office today and decided to wear my 5165. For those with smaller wrists, this is such a great alternative to the 5167.

Great watch! I bet it’s nice to be back at the office. I just finished college and started my first career job and have been working from home since June! Jealous haha.

Love this watch. Stumbled on a 5167 at MSRP and immediately sold it because it wa too big -- though this was before the prices are >2x retail. 5165 would be fantastic but can't imagine ever getting that deal right now.

Yeah, it’s definitely a great size for those who the 5167 is too big for but it’s definitely not one you can get a “deal” on.

I would gladly forego my 5167 for a 5165. Alas....no takers.

Lovely watch I have one too, I much prefer it to 5167 as it is more balance and scarce.

I also like the view.

I have fond memories (fortunately long ago) of working in the Civic Center building at night for one of my professors. What a city at night. It felt big, strong and very American.

Enjoy Chicago and the 5165.

A question to the Aquanaut fans...year and condition being equal, how much $ would you add to trade a 5167a for a 5165?

To me this question entirely depends on your wrist size. If the 5167 doesn’t fit you, I would be willing to add to trade into a 5165. For my wrist size, the 5167 doesn’t fit and I much prefer the newer style to the older versions so paying up for a 5165 was the only option for me.

Agree and that’s kind of where I’m at given my wrist size. With the scarcity of a 5165, I’m just curious how much dough you think I’d need to come up with.

Not much I would think... There is no big gap in terms of asking prices between 5165A and 10y old 5167A, at best 5-10%. Also 5165A don't seem to move well at current asking prices. They are obviously more rare than the 5167A but demand has been lower as well, 10 years ago new at the AD and now preowned.

I agree with this. Prices for both have gotten up there and haven’t really diverged so I would think you should be able to get it for in or around +10% or so.

Finding a 5165 would be the problem and, considering their relative rarity and assuming similar condition, my guess is that you'd have to fork over your 5167 + $5-7K.
