Confession regarding this vs that or which should i choose threads

Should i buy/trade/choose This vs That?

If the OP cares enough to solicit opinions, i'm confused by the lack of effort on their part by only posting the reference #'s & not taking the moment to post pics, usually the options are very specific they are trying to decide between & i think we can agree a picture is worth 1000 words?

Sometimes i will look up the reference #'s but sometimes i wont, depending on my available time...instead i may default to the known reference as my choice (if i know the reference off the top of my head, i have surely shown some prior interest in it)

Anyone else notice this!

PSA:
In the interest of the most helpful input of the forum, wont you include pics in your posts regarding choice:)

I will never share my invaluable opinion without the op posting pics. Unless of course, it's something I've owned, or along the lines of sub vs sub date... Thanks for starting this, it really annoys me when they think we should have to look up the watches in question

I agree 100%. I also find it odd that they can't narrow it down on there own. There is really not much need for justification from others on this watch or that watch unless your curious about functionality of the watches. Sometimes I feel threads like that are just seeking attention

Well said Gus! I couldn't agree more. So glad to see that I am not the only one that couldn't be bothered in posting on those threads!

I would go even further to say that the ideal thread requesting opinions on which watch to buy between a couple of options should include not only pictures of said watches, but also pictures of them on OP's wrist, so the opinion may be given with perspective!

Let's make this one of TRF's rules!

now confess which thread finally pushed you over the edge because clearly someone posted something about this prior to your post that set you off

I agree they could be better executed, I'm guilty of this as well. But most of the time I'm using an iPad and pecking away on this awful keyboard and horribly antiquated spell correct algorithm, which packaged, doesn't really give the best overall approach for lengthy or quality posts, and for some reason, in my case, with the iPad, I can only post one photo at a time.

Well, I don't care much for these threads either. I think if you are looking for real advice, at least give a few points you are considering between / among the choices you list.

Its a bit silly to simply say, "Sub date Vs No Date which would you choose" or Daytona Vs. XYZ model / brand...

Don't even get me started on the "Coke or Pepsi" threads. < Groan > Certain to be followed by pages of one-word responses. Must cost Stevo in extra bandwidth charges ;-)

New vs old
Current vs discontinued
Modern vs vintage
Larger vs smaller
Etc...

It's all rather pointless, but that's (forum) life

We haven't had a good Grand Seiko vs Rolex thread for a while...

I'll start one of those Clive if you'll post a variation of the "What is the average discount I should expect..." threads.

Ah yes Bill, the perennial 'discount' threads ...perhaps if you add up all of the discounts and then divide by the number of posts you'll get the average??!?

Well I suppose folks can't be bothered to check. Guilty here as well.

There wouldn't be much to talk about were it not for comparisons and talks of theoretical discounts...

Agreed Gus and all. I have found others opinions helpful in making up my kind. Reminds me of one of my threads last year on trying to make this big decision, but at least I posted a pic of these modest time pieces on my wrists:

Thomas,
sorry to say that pic would be no help at all as they each look very much like they belong on your wrist

Maybe it's because I've got so many of the reference numbers memorized or I recall the poster's other threads/comments about the watches (I spend way too much time on here) but I don't really mind the X v. Y posts without too much detail. It's the >2 comparisons that irritate me... it just means they haven't done enough research yet.
