Can anybody date my DD

Hi everybody.....new incoming vintage DD. My holy grail, but would like to know the rough date. Can anybody help?

The serial number is L 915xxx.

Guessing the dial is from 08 don't know about the rest of the watch.

Based on the L reference you mentioned, about 1989-90

Lots of references online to check approximate case stamping....

Date wheel. I don't think so why..... Have you spotted something? Might just be the angle to photo was taken at.

Here is the website with every Serial number and what year they represent. Yup it's a 1989

Hi Chris,

Probably just the angle but the date doesn't look centered in the window.
Looks like the top of the 2 is too high.

Old age could be my problem.

Know one can give you a exact date when the watch was made but the case was stamped around 1988/9.Now with gold watches not the best sellers so when the watch was made or sold could be a few years after the case was stamped.

Yes good point...saw a DD the other day that still had the polythene protective sticker on it but the date on the papers were 2001.....

Mine is a 1990. Looks identical. One thing I've noticed is the second marker at 60 is not in bold.

Yes your's is a lovely piece....

With the second marker I think its the angle the photo was taken....just looked at some more pictures of mine and the bold minute marker is right over the central prong of the Rolex crown beneath it.

No bold marker on mine.. Bottom pic has it but it is an 18038 not 18238. I'm not concerned as under a loupe the stones are set Rolex factory style with all flat facets facing outwards
