Pretty cool !!

As to those getting huffy now, Rolex has also stated that the previous years purchases will automatically go to three years..

(besides, if you have not found manufacturing defects in the first year or so, you likely won't. 5 years is more a statement than it is beneficial for the vast majority)

Sitting at Rolex Dallas Service Center today and according to Karen, the 5 year Warranty is NOT TRUE. She stated that they were aware that it was floating around the Internet.

She further stated that it was the topic of a staff meeting on 6/22.

I showed her the picture posted by "kepr" at the top of the thread and she reiterated that again no 5 yr warranty.

Karen further asked for a copy of the picture emailed to her.

Maybe this 5 year warranty is to deter people from messing with their rolexes and customizing them. Or trying to save money on service costs by going to other watchmakers.

Spoke to my AD earlier today and he mentioned they haven't heard anything from Rolex on this topic, much less received any new tags or warranty booklets. Is it possible, as has been postulated on other threads, that this change does not apply to the US?

I thought even Rolex USA had to honor international Rolex warranty--whether 2 or 5 years; maybe I'm wrong on this?

Destroying any obsolete "inventory" would be the safest thing to do, since, I expect, there's a secondary market for tags, booklets, etc.

If Karen said so, it must be true even though the evidence is pretty convincing.

That's what I would expect, and not only that, I would expect Rolex to have roughly uniform warranty and pricing around the world, so that they don't create too many arbitrage opportunities (obviously, they don't have control over currency exchange rates).

Also, if there isn't an accompanying price increase, there is every incentive for Rolex to tightly control the publicity around this change, even internally, until the moment it becomes effective. Similarly, for an AD, there is little incentive in acknowledging such information even if they've received it from Rolex.

That's what I thought too. The dealer was unknown to me until that afternoon. I merely asked whether it was true that the five year warranty started next Wednesday, he offered to go out the back to get me the new warranty booklet - obviously I wasn't gonna say no

Having followed the main warranty thread on here before, I wasn't previously aware of the green tags thing. It seems that if you don't get a green tag, you don't get a five year warranty. Both dealers seemed to already have a stock of green tags and five year warranty booklets, ready for the switchover on Wednesday. So it'll be interesting to know what happens to the red tags thereafter.

So i believe even new old stocks in the AD would get this treatment.
Now it's quite assuring to even buy non Alphanumeric serials from AD.

Sounds like your AD is trying to lock in your business by willing to be flexible. Would be interesting to see when he will actually complete your transaction and record the sale.

As for the change of tags, if the old tags are indeed going to be obsolete and have no other Rolex authorized use, destroying them would seem the cleanest disposition. Other theoretical, Rolex authorized, uses for those old tags and booklets would be scenarios such as Rolex offering different warranties in different regions and/or offering customers a choice of 2 or 5 year warranty. Both scenarios could be seen as complicating the buying process and start creating a cloud on the brand.

It's definitely the case that the AD's existing warranty cards are replaced with new warranty cards and tags.

If one has dropped a watch off at RUSA any time over the past several years, the will deal with one of 3 customer service ladies, one being Karen.
