Does this 1680 look ok?

Close to pulling the trigger on this 1680. 5.7 million serial, seller says it was serviced and case refinished at LAWW. Just wanted to check with you guys and make sure everything looks kosher!

Not for nothing, but if it was just serviced by LAWW he or she should have an invoice.

There are service parts : dial (so-called mk4), insert, date disk, and probably the crown

How do you know it’s a service dial? Because the T<25 is touching the minute marker?

Is it normal for service dials to patina like this?

How does this affect the value of the watch? I know ones with luminova service dials are worth significantly less. Does an aged tritium service dial and replaced date disc also affect the value?

I don’t mind service parts, just don’t want to over pay for them :)

Thanks!

And look at the service dial type C.

Yeah as written above it is a service dial but still can be a tritium one. So not surprisingly, such dials can "age" & get a patina. Still, it is a nice looking watch. I guess (my own personal opinion) it should be valuated by deducting around $3,000 to $3,500 from what you would pay for a 100% original ...

Are those really open 6's ? To me they look closed, although maybe a better pic would tell. Very subtle-- this has a patina more like an original dial.

EDIT NVM I see it now. They are fat sixes as much as "open" and the MK1 sixes are longer and skinnier. sort of.

^ plus look at the Superlative Chronometer Official Certified lines the spacing between the lines is much narrower on the service dial (as on OP's watch) than the Mk11 and there are also noticeable differences between letter spacing. The Service dial also has T<25 touching the minute markers whereas a Mk11 has a gap.

Thanks for all the info guys. The dial differences are really subtle! I noticed the T<25 touching the markers but the font differences are much harder for me to see. Always a great wealth of info on here!

Unfortunately I may have to pass on this one. I asked the seller for a picture of the LAWW service invoice to verify what has been done and for whatever reason they are refusing to provide it before purchase...

How about this one? Looks like a mark 2 dial.

I think the case may have had a light polish but still looks thick. Is that crystal a service replacement (with the larger bevel)?

It’s just so-so ... looks like a service replacement crystal. If the watch is that worn the acrylic would have wear too. The insert and cuff polish don’t do it for me.

Hi there,

Far far far from being an expert but this is what I see:
Dial looks like a Mk2 but I think the coronet shape is a bit strange. Expert needed there :)
Insert looks like a service one (very thin numbers) in very poor condition
Datewheel I can't tell
702 crown which is probably period correct (depending on the serial number)
Lugs look Thick enough, far from a perfect example but still ok considering the age of this old lady.
Do you have the Serial Number ?

Regards,
