Daytona 116520 advice

Hi guys, I'm looking for a Daytona, I'm a bit confused because I like a lot the 16520 but regarding the prices and the "home made" 116520 caliber, I'm doubting!

My question regarding the 116520 iwhich variation(s) would be the rarest, the most collectible?

Many thanks for considering my request,

Best!

I'm not sure that anybody has categorized the post 2000 116520 Daytona in terms of rarest or most collectible. All Daytonas are desirable.

There is no question that the 116520, 4130 movement is one of the finest chronograph movements made, and is head and shoulders above the "Zenith" 4030.

Still, the Zenith movement Daytonas have a cult following that will keep them pricey for years to come.

Not to mention they just look so much nicer than the 116520's. Between the brushed lugs and black or tan/light beige sub dials they just take it.

If you can afford it go for a 16520, if not, a 116520 is a great piece as well.

Yes, this is funny isn’t it? For years I said the Zenith was a great deal because I liked the Black surrounds on the subdials and they could be found for around $10,000. Now they are comically overpriced, and the 116520 is leaps and bounds a better watch in every way compared to all prior Daytona’s yet is the cheapest.
This hobby doesn’t make a lot of sense

The Pana (cream) dial 116520 is definitely rare and collectable.

To me it is always 16520 for a more classic look (brushed lugs, traditional bracelet) and 116500LN for daily use, so the 116520 gets a little forgotten because I find it a bit too shiny, especially the sub dials.

Hi guys, here I am again, I still have some questions about the daytona 116520 :

*From which year the hands became bigger?
*From which year the subdials became more shiny?
*Is it possible to put a 116520 silver bezel on a 116500?

Have a nice week-end mates!

I’m my opinion, the 116520, particularly the white/cream dial beats them all. Classic look and wears well with anything.

Not sure you can call them overpriced compared to 4 digit models with a manual wind valjoux...the market has determined they are more desired. Shorter run, first automatic, nicer dial with slimmer indices and centered black surrounds to name a few.

Not complicated to find a 116520 but which one to look for is my question!

Also can someone please answer these 3 questions :

*From which year/serie the hands became bigger?
*From which year/serie the subdials became more shiny?
*Is it possible to put a 116520 steel bezel on a 116500?

Greetings!

*From which year/serie the hands became bigger? : the late F serial range (late 2004). These have the old MK 1 dial and the new fat hands.

* From which year/serie the subdials became more shiny? : Staring with the D serial, mk 2 dial (2005)
