There have been many DC restaurant threads.
Just use the search function and you'll find dozens of recommendations.

If you're in the area visiting check out Old Ebbitt Grill (lot of history there during the prohibition time) or Founding Farmers

Fiola Mare is far from Navy Yards. It is good seafood and a nice location, I wouldn't call it the best Italian food ever...

Is it a special occasion? Do you want fancy/high end? Or just great food?

https://www.wharfdc.com is pretty close to your location and have a couple of nice restaurant options for different budgets and tastes.

The area around Marine Corps barracks have some nice restaurants as well, I like Belga Cafe up there, especially if you like mussles and fries.

Old Ebbitt Grill is a cool spot. We were there in May. Did the Capital Grill one night too which is somewhat boring but you know what you will get. Saw a ton of politicians in there.

Filomenas is not the same as Fiola Mare if that’s what you’re referring to

I like ginger at MGM for "Americanized Chinese" and Jaleo for tapas. In DC for steak check out Bourbon Steak at the four seasons. Makoto for sushi. Clydes is fun too.

Very true, sorry about that. I still don't think Filomenas is that good either :-)

Budget range? Taste?

Fiola Mare is pricey, expect ~$100 a person. It’s more seafood, less Italian.

I like Joe’s Stone Crab & Prime Rib for steak, but I also like stone crab and seafood towers with a bone-in filet.

There is a broad range of $ and tastes. If you are a foodie, places like Komi, Pineapple & Pearls, Mini Bar, Le Diplomate are strong options.

Some things to note about Filomena’s, it’s comfort, family style, heavy portions type place. Diners enjoying dinner will be afforded the opportunity to wash down their feast with complementary amaretto or sambuca.

A lighter less involved option a block over is il Canale, they have a little but fun rooftop of you can score a table there.
