Sorry to hear that. It takes some gall to break into a locker and steal a watch. Sounds like he was targeted.

no security cameras in lockers due to privacy.

Sad story and agree with hrm that this would be targeted.

I never leave my watch in the locker room.

Sorry to hear that
I am in Toronto and will keep an eye out.
I guess the lesson here is to keep the watch inside the car or office when going to the gym

Man, that's heartbreaking. Also the reason why I never take mine off. Even when working out.

That’s sad to hear. I will keep a lookout as well.

On hindsight, never take off the watch when outside the home.
Office and car ain’t safe anymore as well.

Great looking watch

Your friend must be sick. No cameras even at reception door to try & catch someone in the timeframe ( hopefully a non member who sticks out)

Crosspost on Reddit r/toronto, USD2K is enough for the thief to come forward. Easier money than fencing the watch IMO

Very sorry to hear, but hopefully it will serve as a lesson to us all. In cases like that I'm pretty sure this watch won't ever be on the market. Seems like he was targeted by someone who goes to the gym and knows about watches. That someone probably paid a dirt bag to open the locker and steal if for him, who'll either keep the watch or sell it very privately. Same thing happens with vintage cars.

Nothing worse than thieves and people who hurt children. Sorry your friend had to be a victim of a scum bag.

That truly sucks. Patrol the local pawn shops and kijiji/craigslist listings - you may get lucky.
I haven't been taking my watches to the gym for that very reason - people been breaking into lockers/posing as "forgotten code/or lost key etc." around here (Vancouver) as well.
All the best.

Ouch...that hurts!! Dumb question...but has he made a police report? From what I understand, pawn shops have to hold on to their merchandise for a period of days for this very reason.

This has gained a lot of social media attention, hopefully it helps reunite the watch with the owner.

Have your friend report it to the police ASAP. This is required for any insurance claim.

I would make sure your friend makes a Police report and also informs Rolex Canada of the watch being stolen. A friend of mine years ago also lost his Submariner in the same way in a Toronto gym locker room. These watches can be spotted a mile away and a gym locker room is the last place you should leave anything of great value. I hope its someone just trying to turn a fast buck and your friend is able to recover his watch.
