Got my 1601 today

Got my 1601 two tone today. It is a beauty, I love it. Here are a few quick pics, I'll take some better ones soon. I thought 36 might be too small but it is perfect.

Hi guys, I will need a couple of links after I get the strap tightened. It says 255 on the end links, Rolex 14K trim USA on the other folding part. Is that all the info I need to buy links ?
Any help is much appreciated.

Great looking watch! It has a folded link jubilee bracelet. I believe you will need a 15.5mm size extra link. I am not sure but I think that size is for both the 19mm and 20mm jubilee bands. I think your bracelet is 19mm width but that is quite easy to check. You might try asking say LAWW or some of the other vintage watch repair guys to see if they have a few links. I spent $55 on a single oval link on EBAY including shipping. Looks like yours uses oval links too and the same size as mine. My watch has exactly the same clasp too but tapers from 20mm to 16mm at the clasp (link is still 15.5mm). This is where I got mine but there are two other sellers with the same thing in somewhat better condition plus more $$. This is the listing title ANTIQUE ROLEX SOLID 14K STEEL OVAL LINK FOR 19MM 20MM JUBILEE BAND BRACELET. I would post the link but it was huge. They are definitely using the same image as the one I purchased and the one I got was in better condition than shown. Anyway...

Nice! Your bracelet is definitely 20mm and has oval links already added to it. Oval links use a spring bar and would be much easier to add than folded links. You could add the oval, a watchmaker would be best for folded. 22 links is a full bracelet, 13 and 9 is the usual spacing.

Hate to be bearer of bad mews but you have a 6252h 14k swiss folded link band with an incorrect 14k trim USA clasp used on oval link bands

Very nice. Congrats and wear it in good health man!

Besides the clasp/link issue. The date wheel should be an open 9 I think. Probably want to send it to RSC just to verify all other parts are good to go. Good luck man.

Congrats! Fantastic watch you own... the 36mm looks great on your wrist. Man, vintage DJ’s have such great charm. I know I sure enjoy wearing mine.

That was my .02 cents worth but wait for the real experts to weigh in on the bracelet. Love the color combo.

Thanks, I love the color combo as well. I'm not worried in the least that the bracelet is not 100% correct, or that the date wheel might not be original. I bought this to wear and enjoy and I'm doing that everyday. It will never be sold or traded. I plan on getting the watch serviced by a local watchmaker who has been working on my watches for over 30 years, then sending the bracelet to Michael Young for restoration and to add a few links. After that I'm just going to wear the hell out of it

I do believe that all of the "not correct parts" can be sourced fairly inexpensively through EBAY or even on this forum. I see the date wheels come up frequently and have seen many posts for just a clasp. You might want to do just a little searching for the correct clasp, if it bothers you, prior to sending to Michael. One more thing is to consider sending the whole watch not just the band so they can fit the end links to the watch head better if there is an issue with excessive movement. Kicking myself for not doing that last bit when I sent mine in. All that said, who cares if the clasp is not correct or the date wheel has been replaced? Looks Great! Well played sir…

Yeah, not worried about correct clasp or date wheel at all. My plan is to give the watch head to my guy for service, water testing, regulation, the works, while at the same time send the bracelet to Hong Kong. Then wait patiently for the 2 to come back together.

Congratulations, it’s a beauty! I’m a 1601 freak, and in my opinion, it’s the most classic Rolex that’s ever been made! It’s all subjective, of course, but I just think it checks every box of what I want in a watch! I always start shopping for something new, and then someone will show me a gorgeous 1601 that I don’t have, and I fold like a cheap accordion! That’s a beautiful watch you have v, wear it in good health!
