Yes bikes can get a bit out of hand also just like USD$9000.00 Wheel Sets by Lightweight Meilensteins of Germany... However you can spend that I guess on a bottle of wine if you choose..

Thank you!! Yup, a 2009 Cayman which, in theory, was to become my daily driver. However, it’s difficult to imagine that one day I’d ever reach for those keys and not the Ferrari. Poor Porsche.

Not so much luxury items par se, more along the lines of quality items.

Such as vintage Halliburton cases, good hand and power tools, snap on, Sthil etc.

Hardy split cane fishing rods are a bit of a passion along with Mitchel reels. A magic combination ha.

Do you have a projector yet? I have Sony vpl-hw40es, with a motorized 110" screen, plenty big for my room. Awesome projector.

Cool.

When I was a recording guy and a musician, I collected some nice German tube mics. Neumann and Microtech Gefell in particular.

I miss those days of making and recording music. I had nicer gear than the local studios did so we'd bring in our own gear.

Wow very nice!! Here’s my equipment list. The MC303 arrived last week. I can’t wait to hear it! I only had room for 100in screen. Everyone thinks the screen is an LCD, but it’s a screen for projector

McIntosh MC303 (SS Amp)
McIntosh MPC500 (conditioner)
Marantz AV8805 (processor)
JL Fathom 13.5 (3000w)
B&W CCM7.5 (X2)
B&W CWM7.4 (X2)
B&W 803D2 (X2)
B&W HTM2D3 (center)
Sony VPL-VW695ES

Screen Innovations Zero Edge Pro
Fixed-frame projector screen with ultra-thin frame and LED backlight, Black Diamond dark gray material (100")

That is very good projector, but I made a conscious decision not to go to 4K. We watch mostly B&W old films.

I also saw my previous projector drop its value from 10K all the way down to just $100 or so in a few years - this is way too fast for my blood. :)

I am surprised at the reflections on your screen - I have not seen a screen like that, they are usually matte. I will take a look at that line. Do you know its gain?

I have family in the business which allows me to get hardware at wholesale. This allows me to not worry about resale value, but I understand. 4K projectors will likely be replaced by laser projectors within a couple years, but now are hyperexpensive.
Yeah the screen is unusual. It even arrived crated and fully assembled. It makes an amazing picture and the Hue LED’s built in aren’t the gimmick I would’ve believed. Here are the stats on the screen...

He-he... I am in the industry too, but not the video side of it, still I know what you mean. :)

I read a bit on that screen, sounds interesting. I don't have light control issue, as my room is dedicated. My problem is - it is not used nearly enough. I mostly listen to music there, alone... but the movies I usually watch with my wife. We used to watch them together in that room, and it was great, but then she got tired of it. :( So for now our TV dinners are in front of a Samsung plasma. :)

I had to use the motorized screen, as there are shelves with LP's behind it.

Luxury items other than watches?

Cartier sunglasses(almost a dozen), cigars in two full Elie Bleu humidors (which I’m starting to smoke through so I can start a new collection), getting into fountain pens (although I still can’t use them all at once without drying out the ink so I’m beginning to rotate).

I humbly collect crystals and gemstones.... while not a luxury item per se, things get expensive fast and there can often be a similar pursuit as with watches.
