5512 original gilt 62's
I am thinking of buying this 5512. I would be very greatfull if you could give me your opinion on the watch. the bellow info was given to me.
1. 1962 light tropical glit dial (serial 1,0XX,XXX) 2. Cal 1560 3. All orginal parts (excluding Dome and braslet) 4. 5512 engraived inner case back (Ⅰ62) 5. Light gray besel It is an expencive purchase so I would like to know if the above is correct and more valuable than other 5512. Any help would be much appriciated. |

Hi
Your watch would be around 1964 maybe 65' based on that serial #. 1963 was the last year of the pointed crown guards. So we know your watch cannot be earlier. Your dial also looks like a dial from the 64/5 era. Please show a picture of the inner caseback if your able. What is the asking price if I may ask? |

I will post the case back pictures. The price is around USD21,000. Do you think it is market price? |

I don't like the caseback. Looks fake to me. Fonts are all wrong.
Move on from this piece, is my advice. Here is a real 1962 caseback. Letters are stamped, yours are laser engraved. Photo courtesy of hq milton. Over and out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thank you for your advice.
I do agree that the case back might have been changed, as you pointed out the engraivment is too neet and it doesn't match the serial. But would you say that the dial, case, hands are all original? or are their some parts that don't look original? What do you think of the price? |

the shot of the movement doesn't look like the same watch. The first series of images shows a quite drastically polished crown guards. the image from the back shows what appear to be very thick crown guards...

Yes, believe the case to be fake as well. Can't give all the details away to the fakers.
Run away from this. |

I understand what you're saying, but I think that letting people like the O.P, and others here, who are genuinely interested in vintage pieces and could use the knowledge to help protect them from being ripped-off in the future, is more worthy than worrying about the very off-chance that a faker is pouring over the these threads.

Thank you all for your advice.
I will walk away from this watch. It is sad to see so many fakes flying around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
