That's a nice ding. After the initial shock I wouldn't worry about it. 2020 has been a rough year for me in particular, I have been humbled into realizing what's really important. Your six month old is healthy and surely brings much more happiness to you, and you also have a beautiful watch. One day you'll have a good story to tell her about the watch.
Plus I would leave it.

Roll iWorks. 1 hour of polishing ($250) and 1 hour of laser welding ($90) plus shipping. It looks brand new under a loupe.

I would stop his pocket until he paid for the damage he had done.

I'd likely get it repaired; getting my Platona bracelet polished was a $200 bill. Sounds like the Rolliworks price is very reasonable.

Not at all.

But I happen to be lucky, if it did I could easily just use our laser and make it disappear in 30min...

Wow that’s cheaper than I expected. Saw someone else’s post for a repair done there as well. I will definitely use them if I ever encounter such a problem.

OP - for 350 dollars, this problem can completely disappear. So whether you keep it or decide to fix it, absolutely nothing to lose sleep over at all. :)

A bit hard to see when wearing it.
Even though it may bother me initially I'd get over the dissapointment and chalk it up to experience.
A spot or two of laser welding at service time will make it all go away and restore it back to like new
Besides it will probably get more dings between now and then

I'll keep the watch and pass it to my son when he's 18. Then show it to him, tell him you damaged my watch 17 years ago.

Would this dent bother you?

Nah, that’s not too bad, even for me and I’m very particular. It’s a clean ding. If you wear your watches then this is the first of many. Sort of like that first scratch on a new car.

Now you can really enjoy it.

It's going to happen if you wear a watch!
Wait until your service, and it will come back to you brand new looking.
I wear my Rolexes to do everything. They get quite a beating over time. They always come back looking New!

You bought it for thousands of dollars. Hurts a little when they start to get worn, but that's par for the course. No need to worry, they can handle a lot of abuse.

Maybe. I had a dent maybe 5x that. Had Michael Young fix it. Now am happy.

Scratches and scuffs am OK. But dings visible to me. Argh.

Well-said.

I have watches in my collection that I’ve owned a long time and worn hard, their dings and scratches ass value for me. I have other pieces that I baby and would like to keep pristine. Everyone’s different, but if you plan on giving this watch to your son one day I think the ding will make a nice story and add sentimental value.

Honestly yes it would bother me.

Its up to you really what you can accept or not. If your constantly looking for it and its taking away from the joy of owning the watch go get it fixed. It will be an easy fix for any capable watchmaker.

If it's a watch destined to be in the family...then it's really his ding isn't it ?

But seriously, no, that wouldn't bug me if my kid made that happen. That's life.
