Seriously it's tiny. Anyone using the name batgirl deserves to have their watch smashed with a hammer to be honest.

The first dent or scratch on a pristine watch it oh so hurts! Maybe give it sometime and assess.

The poster above with the SkyD dent at 11 I would definitely repair...right there staring at you all day.

But this looks kinda ok as it's on the side and as many people have commented there's your son's story behind it.

BTW Me personally...I kinda borderline OCD so I'd get any decent ships it dent fixed. Scratches I can live with.

For these three reasons together, its an easy call to NOT get it fixed:

1. It's on the side, not the edge or top.
2. It's from your son.
3. It's fairly small.

Would I worry about the tiny dent absolutely not, most dings always look a lot worst especially on high magnification.

Think about how you would feel after all the trouble to get it fixed when something similar (inevitably) happens again.

Honestly THIS is the reason.
I have dents and scratches (in my watches AND cars) that annoy me, but why bother, when facing the inevitable.

If its done by my son, no!
Maybe one day you pass it on to him, he marked it anyway!

Life is too short to worry about watch dings. Carry on enjoying your watch and forget it.

If your son is still a kid then I'd leave it alone, if he is a typical teenager I'd make him pay for it.

If you use and wear the watch like you're supposed to, dents and scratches are bound to happen. There is a chance you repair it and it happens again by your hand next time.

You should see the dents as new pages on the watch's story. Embrace them and you will realise that at the end of the day, not only they will not bother you, but you will feel like they are a natural result of the every day use of an active man like yourself. That's what I've been doing for years.

Enjoy!

Agreed. Cost of doing business. Spectator vs participant in life, in my opinion. If you don’t want to watch from the bench, get used to some damage.

I had a similar ding on the side at about 8 or 9 o’clock on my submariner, although less deep than yours. RSC kindly agreed to do a spot polish for me (without the need for a full service), and it was returned as good to new. 🙂

Honest answer: if that bothers you - congrats.
I envy you. Your life seems quite free of severe troubles. And I don’t mean to be mean by any way.

The corner dents bother me a lot. The side ones like the OP’s don’t bother me so much. Weird, I know!

RSC UK only charged me £50 for a spot polish to remove a ding.

Easy for things to look worse than they are when magnified so much on a screen. Take another pic from a foot away or so. That's about as close and anyone (including yourself) will generally be to it.

No one will notice it except for you. If you go to sell it then it would become a factor in price.

I got a mystery ding on the lug of my BLRO at about 1:30. Pissy because it’s kind of scalloped out. Would’ve preferred just a sharp dent. Dents and dings tell the story of the watch and give it character. Nothing in life is perfect. Not even a Rolex

It wouldn’t bother me, especially considering the location. Once you get over the sting, you will barely notice it. Then later it will turn into a character mark that will be accompanied by a great funny story you can share with your son (aka give him crap) for the rest of your life.
