Your money, your choice.

Personally, if it were me I’d take my time and actually enjoy wearing the watches a bit. Secondly, there are a lot of brands out there outside of Rolex which are great To wear and it’s nice to have some variety. Maybe try that too.

Where do I sign? I’ll take the upgraded package please, but can we roll the costs into my mortgage?

I agree with this comment. If you have recently caught the watch bug, it's good to start with a couple of Rolexes. But, you have means... go check out Omega, Zenith, Breitling, Blancpain, and others. You can also find nice watches that speak to you... but are also not so common. There are hundreds of Swiss watch brands from which to choose. Congrats and enjoy!

I recently caught the watch bug too. I’ve bought a dj41, panerai and blro and my wife a Cartier all in 4 months. Now I’m looking for either a chrono or new sub. Looking at this forum 24/7 doesn’t help the addiction

I bought a used TT DJ in the early 90's because growing up in the 70's just about every Doctor, or Dentist, was wearing one. I was in my 20's, so it was my way of thinking I had made it. I knew nothing about watches and really didn't care to.

Once my kids were in college, I decided to start collecting watches and learn some history about Rolex. My next purchase was a 16613LB, the watch all the Surgeons were wearing when I was a kid!

I have 5 watches, collected over 15 years, so I am a snail compared to the OP.

But I am not the OP and if they are happy doing what they are doing then that is fine, they obviously have the funds to do this so go and enjoy spending your money.

My only concern is that you end up with lots of watches you fancy but none that you really like. However, it's the OP's choice how their hard earned dosh is spent.

Do what you enjoy. I’ve often done the same. You may change your mind and sell later, or those may stay in your collection.

To each their own and do what makes you happy if you can do so responsibly. I think it’s fun buying up watches quickly.

Impressive. You must have one heck of a relationship with your AD.

I would consider this buying, not collecting. You didn't buy a single model that wasn't at the top of the Rolex hype train.

The only reason for me not to buy all at once is the expense. If you don't mind paying the premium then I say buy what makes you happy. I have always appreciated luxury watches but was never in a financial position to comfortably afford them until recently. Unfortunately, now that I can afford them, I can't buy the watches I want, when I want them. So I get what I can find when I come across a good deal. Since 2017, I have acquired a pre ceramic Pepsi and Kermit, an Omega Speed Master and a Tudor Ranger on the grey market because I was able to negotiate a good deal. I purchased a 116613LB Bluesey from my local AD at retail this year and he also sold me the new Omega 007 Seamaster at a slight discount (he only received one on the bracelet and I got it). I am on his list for a 126710 BLRO but have been waiting for about 18 months even with the other purchases from him. I could get the Ceramic Pepsi on the grey market but I can't justify paying double for a watch I will likely be able to buy from my AD in the future if I am just patient. So I understand wanting to get the watches now to enjoy them, but I hate the idea of overpaying for anything even if I can afford it. If you are after discontinued watches then you have to pay market prices but if you are pursuing a current watch I would rather get in line and wait while enjoying my other watches or getting another discontinued watch on your list until your number comes up. Either way no one will know how you acquired your watches unless you tell them, so spend your money how you like and enjoy your watches.

I think it’s great you have bought them all and not taken time. I have never been able to get a watch from an AD (not important enough) always grey. Everytime I have waited the price goes up and I regret not buying it sooner. If you can afford it and it makes you happy buy it when you feel like. The ceramic is now unobtainable for me at £20k to e£24k but if I had bought earlier I might have just been able to afford it maybe still not even then.

I was out of collecting watches for awhile due to family issues.

But, the bug bit me a again a couple of years ago.

Recently started in Dec 2018, bought a Rolex Day Date 40mm Everose with Chocolate and Baguette Diamond Dial.

About 2 months ago, I bought a Rolex GMT Master II Everose. I've been wearing the GMT almost every day.

Now, I'm eyeing a GMT Master II White Gold, something I can wear daily under the radar as the Rose gold is too flashy. I'm just seeing which dial I want, the blue, which matches the bezel beautifully, or the Meteorite dial, which makes it flashy, like the Day Date.

Agree here...I think going hog wild and buying every "popular" SS watch (or even harder to get TTs, too) is building a collection of the moment, but I won't try to impart judgment on others' tastes...they just aren't mine.

I have gone through a similar spurt recently, but acquired some 5-digit watches that I've admired from a distance for quite some time, while waiting on a few brand new watches to potentially come my way down the line (YM rhodium and a white dial Daytona). Luckily for me I don't care much at all for the prior Sub line, not enamored by the new one unless I see it in person and it changes my mind, don't care for the jubilee bracelet on the GMT, and don't go for the TT models that everyone raves about (i.e., Root Beer). The only real "popular" watch I want is the Daytona, which I don't have to lose any sleep over getting right now, as I'm not paying gray prices for something when I could get a 5-digit Pepsi on Oyster and a 16800 matte dial and likely still have cash left over. Probably would have bought more than the 3 I snagged within a month if the right versions of the Sub and GMT popped up on my radar, but I'm definitely ok with having taken a few month breather...

curious to know whether some on here would think this is the wrong way to go about building a collection.
i bet some people would say part of the enjoyment is taking your time and building slowly.

i just hate wanting something and thinking/researching about it therefore taking my time away from more important things.
so my philosophy is that if i can afford it, then buy it and get on with something more constructive
For some reason I thought I read that this was all purchased through an AD and even below MSRP. Clearly I misread or was having a flashback. Sorry! It's your money do as you like. For me I bought about everything I saw when I was new to the hobby. I sold it all and am now much more selective on what I'll buy. There time to learn and it's only money.

Yeah I like this approach, tbh I would love to be able to go out and buy 3 or 4 on the bounce, but after a long... long wait to get my second Rolex and the hours pouring over Internet forums & watch websites lusting after it to finally being able to have it on my wrist was all part of the excitement and build up, I feel 10 feet tall when I wear it and granted nobody else notices it but it makes me feel great

Since the OP asked, I don't have a problem with it whatsoever.

If there are no monetary limitations, then go for it...no reason to mess about.

My AD has a client who is very into high complications from JLC, VC, Patek.. He would buy them as fast as the AD could source them from the respective factories.. Cost was of no concern in any way..literally the only thing holding him back was waiting for them to be built, he even offered to pay more to get them faster.

So, once you complete your Rolex collection in short order, there are plenty of other horological wonders to collect!

It’s your money feel free to do as you please. I thought the bug had bit me bad when I purchased a Speedy, an OP39, and a BLRO all in one month. I actually ended up selling the OP39 and the other 2 will remain but I don’t see myself wearing the speedy too often. The BLRO is allllllllllllll that I need. It is also a watch I’ve wanted for a very long time, and I couldn’t scratch the itch with the other 2.
