Olive dial because you can buy Yellow anytime you want.
If Day Date is gonna be your only watch then Yellow gold.
If you are planning to have 2 Day dates then go for Olive first.

Yellow gold and white dial definitely.

Or perhaps it's actually silver dial?

I prefer the YG. But the Olive dial will be discontinued.

I’m an RG fan and have a 228235, so that’s an easy answer. The YG is classic no doubt, but I think the RG is more versatile.

though it seems getting popular, the white is my least favorite DD dial. The olive is on the other hand one of what I like the most.

If I wanted a DD, it would be a DD40 in RG with Olive dial.

That watch is actually on my shortlist for a PM purchase next year (and only Rolex on my PM shortlist).

RG does not work with my skin tone so YG is the one. I do like the WG with the Olive dial but that was not an option.

RG with Olive dial is hot item now. Some of Trusted seller is asking for $43500 and the other one even more ridiculous, jacked up the price to more than $50K.

It's better to buy it from Boutique/ADs.

For a one and only, I have to agree that the YG is it. But in a larger collection? I would go with the RG - especially if you have a YG in the collection.

Between those two, I'll take the olive dial. Now, between YG/silver and the RG, different story.

I have YG I feel it is shiny when wear it to go outside. Since I bough it in April, I put it on wrist couples time only.

Got the Olive and love it...favourite watch...full stop. Saving up at the mo for blue, romans & WG. Once that’s achieved YG and white...so in that ages of saving...

If the RG looks good with your skin tone, get that one.
