Trusted Seller = Grey?
Hi, sorry if this is not the place to ask this question, but I am still new to the forum and this question has been bothering me for a while!
Can't seem to find an answer when I search, myself! I am based in UK, and hoping to get an LVc or BLNR (ideally at not mad over % - like I have seen!) As for "trusted sellers" as they keep being mentioned - are they also the same as "GREY" sellers/dealers or are they different things? Is just a good regular seller with track record in deals a TS? BTW. I am expecting this post to be shortly killed off or moved - as the last one was before I could get an answer to my question!?! |

in common usage, yes a grey dealer is a non AD selling watches. Some are more trusted than others
Technically though a grey market watch is one that never entered the AD supply chain which is not the case with Rolex watches. Every one was sold from an AD first so every one is preowned. secondary or pre owned dealer would be more accurate

A "Trusted Seller" is someone with a stellar reputation backed by reviews and a lot of transactions.
"Grey" or the "Grey Market" refers to the source of the inventory. In the end, you should always buy the seller first. All the inventory comes from Geneva anyway.

As Tyler already stated...
Most of the watches that “trusted sellers” have are not Gray maker watches, they’re just used. A gray market watch is one that was not originally sold through the AD channel. It won’t come with a valid warranty, but is otherwise the same. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thankyou all! much clearer!
I came back to the market having sold my 16610 mid last year (OK,ish with that decision! - as I planned to put money+top up to buy the new watch) - but sadly not been able to find one at a realistic (to me) price! Wait list with AD's still looks not to be yielding the goods - I have really tried to give my money to charity/Rolex) The quest continues.... (also, thanks - I did not know about the "Open Discussion Forum" part until now!! |

Good info from others. I’ll also add that another difference in buying from a trusted seller vs a grey market seller is that typically you get the manufacturers warranty with a trusted seller, as those watches are originally sourced from an AD (typically). Usually won’t if buying on the grey market
