I'm sorry about your accident Marine.

God speed getting back on two wheels, and I am hoping that you are not in any pain.

Ouch! Jerry, only just seen this.
Glad you're ok..ish. Could've been worse.
Good job you were wearing a helmet, not eveyone does.
Hope you heal soon buddy.
Lukewarm, salt bath, will help the gravel rash.

Perhaps some 'retail therapy' is required?

Ouch! Glad you weren’t hurt worse. It’s gonna be a while before you get a good night’s sleep. Broken ribs and clavicle are a tough combination for getting comfortable in bed.

Trashed helmet

Really had my coconut slammed hard to the ground and kudos to the helmet for doing its job for me..

Thank goodness you were wearing a helmet or it could’ve been much much worse.

Hope you heal up quickly

Here’s to healing as soon as possible. I knew raccoons could be bad but never connected that type of danger to a bicycle accident.

I can say with a degree of certainty, without my helmet I would be dead or at best a vegetable today.

Wife t-boned a dog once going about 27. Her shoulder and head took the brunt of the impact. She sent me some texts from the side of the road. They were similar to “sodicsjs djdke ofjs dnse dogggg creesg a heltme sloudre.”

I suspect that, that's probably a very expensive, 'top of the range' helmet.
Saved your bacon Mr B.

As the old BELL advert used to say: "If you've got a $10 head, wear a $10 helmet".

How are you feeling today Jerry?
Not too stiff, I hope.

Thought you might need cheering up.
Hope it doesn't hurt to laugh.

I had a vision that your new cycle hat might look something like.......

HAH and you are not the only one whom has sent me pictures of sweet raccoons..! :) This is the 2nd time I have been taken out by a coon but this incident is much worse. I am really stiff and sore but surely can see day light ahead on my recovery. No swelling in my shoulders or anywhere but quite stiff and the road rash is down right nasty..nice hearing from you..:)

It is the most important piece of cycling equipment I own and would never ever consider heading out with out one but what others do is none of my business..

I did a similar job on myself about 45 years ago when a neighbour's small dog bolted out their front gate into the front wheel of my road-bike (MC) at about 20kph as I slowed to turn into my driveway. Straight over the handlebars. Broken Clavicle and sore ribs, some rash and a surprising amount of damage to my bike.
Neighbour rushed out - and picked up the dog and took it straight back into her yard - left me lying in the middle of the road.
Have a poorly set kink in my Clavicle as a permanent reminder. A good Bell Full-face saved my head.

RAD RASH on the MEND

My nasty road rash scrapes appear to have started the healing process but still quite painful..
