Hello, watch fam. I'm traveling for the first time to Dublin next week for
St, Patrick day. I would like to know if safe to bring my sub, or any high-end watches. I'd like to visit some AD. Any recommended places to visit for two days would be great.

Definitely safe to wear your sub. I wear mine and my GMT around Dublin every day (obviously not at the same time!) and never has any issues. There are obviously parts, like any city, where I wouldn’t do so but as a tourist you won’t really be near those locations.

The SS drought is very much alive in Dublin however visit Weirs on Grafton Street which is the main AD and also stock other major brands such as Patek, Omega, JLC, Tudor etc

In terms of pre owned pieces, visit Dawson jewellers on Dawson Street, they have some nice pieces but at your usual grey prices but it can be a good opportunity to try on some more sought after watches.

Thank you for the recommendation. I'm not in the market for one but will be looking for a friend who wants the BLNR and I love visiting AD's just to see mine options. What's the VAT percentage?

VAT in Ireland is 23% but the waiting lists on SS models is shocking. Expect to wait months even for a non date sub. Zero percent chance you will get a BLNR from an AD. They aren’t even adding names to the lists anymore.

They had a BLNR in Dawson jewellers last time I passed by. Not sure of the extent of the grey premium though.

I would feel safer in Dublin than Maryland.

Hasn’t happened to me before and I fly out of Dublin regularly. May depend on the security agent.

I've never had to take my watch off either. I wear my TT Sub and never had an issue or unsafe feeling. Just be sure to be aware of your surroundings.

Enjoy your trip and have a few pints! The Guinness tastes so much better over there.

Can we please stop these threads from popping up? Seriously, your going to a EU capital city, not bloody Raqqah... And why would you go to a place where you'd question the safety of a watch rather than your own life? People's priorities are screwed up these days.

That was actually my friend's BLNR, he has since pulled it back out as he wasn't getting any interest, but was asking for a hefty €15k for it....

I'm not doubting the safety of the city as I've heard good things about the hospitality of the people and places to visit. My question was regarding wearing high-end watches. There are some countries were is not recommended and is the reason I asked.

It's not that we're all extra sensitive, and we're certainly not insensitive as several of us have replied to your question; it's just a lot of us have seen these threads so many times before. As some one else noted, you're going to the capital of major European country; not a war torn, third world shit hole.

Keep your wits about you, don't look like a victim, know where you're walking and you'll be just as safe in Dublin as you'd be in parts of Baltimore, NYC or Chicago for that matter.
