RO Openwork or Perpetual Calendar

Hey all. For those who are “VIP” enough in the eyes of AP, which would you prefer to get first and why? The 15407st or 26574st? I assume both are similar in terms of difficulty to get.

Both would be absolute grails in any collection, and the pinnacle in AP RO collecting.

I’d go for 26574 PC first, as gives a usable complication. Then I’d aim for the 15407st as the next piece.

Just so happened by the same OP

Personally QP - more useful and easier to read

I absolutely love the openwork watches. However, from a ‘usefulness’ standpoint, the perpetual is way better. Whether that is a consideration for you is entirely a personal choice.

RO Openwork or Perpetual Calendar

I much prefer the perp. It feels more special. The open is very cool and pretty but keep in mind it’s a time only watch at the end of the day.

Openworked every day of the week for me. But it’s all personal preference of course.

Aesthetically the openworked is amazing to me. And I don’t see myself setting the perpetual calendar. Would love either though

It is for a reason that AP has put the QP apart on their website under "exeptional pieces", I guess

Openworked for me. QP is awesome and I thoroughly enjoy it, but I think the openworked is more special.

Originally I was eyeing PC however after seeing Openwork I am 1000% for it. Now question is ST or RG. Does it really matter? :-)

“Or”?!

Surely the only answer is both!

Such a shame the QP is so insanely expensive now (for us mortals) and that the Double Balanced Openworked looks, relatively, “value” as a consequence

How much was the 15407ST when it was first released? Seems about $44k? Man those were the days

For those going the boutique route, I believe the normal progression is QP first then openworked. YMMV, I personally love the QP look as I like the four subdials and also the complex function which is displayed in a thinner case than the three hander RO.

Yes, it was around £42k I think Vince. It’s now £63,700 here in the Uk

I think special watches are best in special materials as well. So I would go RG for openworked.

Openworked all day long for me... although I appreciate the complications in the QP, the 15407 just looks more special.

I have both in steel and while the 15407 is a beautiful watch and fun to look at, I wear the QP much, much more. I’m a sucker for complications though.

Wow. I had a late 2018/early 2019 price list but no idea it had ever been £30k Ash.

I actually think it was initially a bit less, like £27/28k.

For now, I cannot think of a more beautiful watch. But as said: why not both? On to an openworked!
