Rolex Daytona 16523 chronograph issue

Hello..I am having this watch repaired at the moment , but was curious if any repair people here have seen this issue ..and also..is this somewhat common to occur on this watch: when starting the chronograph, it works great..all functions, but every single time..it stops completely once it hits around 57-58 seconds. Then, you can reset and the same issue will happen. Again, just wondering perhaps more details on this issue , and would it be considered a major repair?
Thanks in advance ..

Common issue with chronographs, it can have several causes.

Most commonly it will have too much wear and build up dirt in the chronograph mechanism, this will create too much friction to overcome especially when it has to push the minute wheel near the 1min mark.

Another thing you see frequently is that someone who doesn't know what he's doing adjusted it, meaning that the chronograph driving wheel might engage too deep or too shallow, or the minute counter jumper is bent or adjusted badly.

Hard to tell what is going on exactly without opening it up and checking it. It could very well just be time for a service

It should have been a fairly simple adjustment to be honest.
Eccentric or offset screws provide adjustments for chronograph mechanisms.
Unless it really needed a service as mentioned.
