The best investments work better with leverage. Since you can’t buy a Rolex on margin, recommended putting several on a credit card or second mortgage your home- best models are sub 36mm all precious metals.

Good call here especially if you diversify your portfolio with one of every model in the lineup. Think of the sport range like tech and the classics like blue chips. Go with a ratio of 3 steel to 1 gold and you'll have a great asset mix.

A large majority of us don’t look at them as investments, but nice watches that most likely won’t lose value if kept for many years.
I suggest go with the ole iconic workhouse, Submariner Date. Grab the latest model, 126610LN with box and papers to wear plus enjoy. If you decide to sell it in 20 years, no one knows what the market will be, but I’m confident you won’t lose any money, plus you got to wear a cool watch all that time.
Good look with your advantage of finding a Rolex.

Not a good start here, my friend. Most people here do not really think watches are investments, me included. Just buy a watch you like & consider any cost as a sunk cost you will never get back. But yes, most Rolex watches retain their value, so you have that going for you.
AND, when you get that Rolex, PLEASE do not ask if you should use any protective films on it.....AND, be sure to keep the box the watch came in & always tell people you have Box & Papers, Bro!!

Do you know what was always great about Rolex?

You buy one for say £5,000 and wear it everyday for say 5 years. You then sell it worse case scenario for £4,000 and it’s worked out it cost you 50 pence a day for all that enjoyment. Wow that was cheap for 5 years enjoyment of a luxury watch.

As I said that was worse case, because the chances are that you’d have got your money back or maybe even a bit more.

^^^ that was what was so great about Rolex.

Unfortunately for some they started going up in value way too much and all of a sudden all the people that loved Rolex found themselves competing with posters like this that could really care less about the watch and enjoying it, they were looking for an investment.

Rolex isn’t an investment, it’s a watch to be worn and enjoyed. No offence OP, please buy one to enjoy.

It seems more and more people nowdays now get attracted to Rolex, not as a hobby but strictly for "investment" reasons. ....like those Sneaker heads collecting the next big thing only to hold on to the stock and then put it up for sale a year later and double markup.

Another reason why buying Rolex at retail has become a clown's joke now as most people walking in the door is solely doing it for investment (and flipping) reasons.

Rolex was much better 5 years ago when people were buying it for the same reason they'd buy a Omega or a Seiko.
