Incoming 5172g - Salmon

I am very excited - just got a call from my AD that my 5172g with Salmon dial has arrived and will be shipped to me tomorrow.

It has taken about 7 month of wait, which based on what I am hearing is not bad at all.

It will be my first manual wind Chronograph and I really am partial to the Salmon color dial.

Should have this beauty in my sweaty palm by Friday afternoon - oh yeah!

My local AD laughed at me when I asked to be put on the waitlist for this watch. I recently checked Chrono24 and I noticed this watch goes for a healthy discount on the secondary market. I'm kind of surprised as I thought people would go crazy for this dial color, but I suppose this is more a byproduct of the ongoing recession.

Was he laughing because you don’t need to waitlist for it?

Just curious if you are in Miami - there are PP AD two in Miami, one in Boca, and one in Naples, etc.

How far away is your AD that they need to ship it to you?

Do you save on taxes?

No Patek AD will put you on the waitlist for this watch as it's an application piece that has to be approved by corporate. They want to make sure you've bought several Pateks and that you fit the ideal profile. I've never purchased from Patek before so they wanted to sell me a watch I had no interest in so I walked away.

I think this is a model anyone can buy for the asking. If an AD won't sell you one just buy one used. They are readily available, compete, on the secondary market.

Correct. This is not an application piece. It has a high retail price and goes for well under retail on the secondary market. Though it is a relatively recent release (2022), it should be fairly easy to acquire from an AD.
