They are very different watches, both are fantastic, but you can hardly compare them to each other. The Lange may well be the more complex watch overall, as it displays the second time in a city-adjustable subdial. It’s also a much larger watch. On the backside, it has an opulently decorated gorgeous movement.
The Patek on the other hand is a much smaller, more formal and elegant watch, an emblem of the brand. I especially like the older 5130s that still have the Geneva seal. Those are some of the most underrated Pateks around, and to be honest, probably my next purchase. Visually, the caseback isn’t much to look at though, as is the case with many Pateks that build atop the simple automatics.

One thing I like about Lange is they have these limited runs that if you don't grab, it's gone. Example is the referenzuhr. So unique, classic, and special. They made a few, the ln *poof* its gone.

Great choice, can’t beat the micro-rotate movement. It fits on my wrist so perfectly - better than any other in my collection. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have no bias at all but I’d pick the 5131R.

How did you know? I wore mine once when I got it and it has been in the bank ever since. I did get a blue strap for it though.
I’m never selling it, it’s getting sold and going into my endowment when I croak. |

I wore mine once when I received it from my AD and it has been in the bank safe since, so a very common scenario

PP does the best world timers, hands down. I was set to get a 5230G before it was discontinued, so patiently awaiting the next (non-enamel) iteration.

Just so beautiful. ALS just gets it right.
If I were in the market for a world timer/dual timer, I would pick the Patek if money were not a limiting factor. I think the execution is slightly better if not busier. Having no date is a bummer though. But the Time Zone is a relative "steal" if bought used, and the date and dual time displays are very useful to me. So if money and value are important, the ALS is the better option. |
