My minimal Rolex collection

I love how these two watches work together. They're both so versatile, but so different.

- DateJust 1603 with Grey Sunburst Dial circa 1971
- Submariner 16610 M Series circa 2007

Next on the list, and likely a long well down the road, is an Explorer II 16570 with a Polar dial. I feel like that watch would be a perfect addition to this collection with its white dial and GMT function.

Great collection so far. I really like the look of that DJ, and there is no better anchor for any collection than a Sub. Enjoy!

Nice. Really like the DJ. A polar explorer will be a great addition

Indeed a exp.2 would be a perfect addition, but do not forget to fit a 216570 somewhere as the pop of orange could enlighten your collection also a lot, i personally like the 42m version better sorry ;-p

I don’t disagree at all - I love the GMT hand on the new Explorers! Unfortunatey, a 40mm case is my limit with my small wrist.

Thanks! When I ordered the DJ, I was worried the grey dial might be a bit boring. Those concerns were not warranted. In any given light the dial might be lighter, darker, or the same tone as the case. With the bezel, it gives the watch a metallic, almost gritty, vibe while still being dressy. It’s super cool.

Very nice pair Sir.

Sub and DJ classic combo, covers most occasions. Do like that DJ dial a lot

That 1603 is

We have similar tastes, I currently have a blue dial 16234, have a polar E2 on the way and want to eventually get a Sub to round out my Rolex collection

Thanks! It's funny how a vintage DJ can evoke much stronger reactions than a watch over twice its value. I absolutely love it. I think the grey dial and bezel work perfectly together.

I like your style! I can't think of a better three watch combo than the polar EXII, Sub, and a DateJust if you want to stick with Rolex. It covers you in 99% of situations. Anything else would just be excess (not that there's anything wrong with that )

Let's see pics of the Explorer II when it comes in! I was actually planning to pick up a 16570, but after I tried the Sub on I couldn't stop thinking about it. It was the perfect Sub for me, so I couldn't let it slip away.

True that can be a real good 3 piece collection… Love the explorers, if you had to add a 4th, what would it be?!?

I'd probably decide between a 36mm Explorer or something like a JLC Master Control chrono with sector dial. I've long wanted a 114270 but the right watch at the right price hasn't surfaced for me. I don't have a chronograph currently and I love the looks of that JLC.

I'm unsure why, but the Speedy has never quite done it for me. Although, I've never had one on my wrist. I do love the Pepsi, but I feel it overlaps with my Sub and my (hopefully) future Explorer II. That said, I'm also something of a completist, so having my favorite version of each SS sports Rolex isn't totally out of the question!

Cheers!
