The Wristwatch Handbook
I've only just cracked this book, and already I'm impressed. For anyone interested in learning more about the what's really going on inside of our much-loved timepieces, this would be the way to go to gain some of that knowledge.
I'm almost embarrassed to say that though I've had a love for watches all my life, this is the first time that I've truly educated myself on the the subject of mechanical vs. automatic. It's definitely tickling my engineering mind, at the very least! Highly recommend the book...

As promised, here are a few pics. This is not a light book - nearly 350 pages, which is a good thing!
He goes in enough depth on the components of a watch, but then also goes into detail about how some of the components can be used differently (e.g. the Rotors picture below). Also, the book references watches from over 90 BRANDS as examples to some of the details that are discussed within the narrative.

Looks like a good educational book on horology, with great pictures. I must admit I'm not across the specific details of how escapements, bridges, etc. work.
Thanks for sharing. |

Have this as a coffee table book. As OP stated, great explanations and illustrations from numerous brands. Definitely worth the price.
My only gripe with it is it's rather unwieldy size. You really can't lay down in bed/ the couch and easily read it.
