Case size comparison Patek 36mm or 37mm <VS> Rolex 36mm questions....?

Could someone please post some side to side pictures of the Rolex 36mm and Patek 36mm or 37mm for comparison size.....

Because I want to know if the Patek 36mm or 37mm will wear larger than the Rolex 36mm.....

Prefer Rolex Day-Date and Patek complications or grand complications pictures .....

Rolex DateJust and Patek Calatrava are welcome to post the pictures too.......

Please tell me your Patek case size and your wrist size.....

Wrist shot also welcome too.....

Thank you.....

Best Regards,
Tony

The way you worded your post makes it seem like you are giving us a homework project. Intentional or not , you come across a little demanding. Perhaps that is the reason for the crickets.

I politely disagree... he said please and wasnt making any demands. The reason for the “crickets” is because not many people buy 36 and 37mm men’s watches.

My 36mm Day-Date I used to own and 36mm 3940 I currently own. The Rolex IMO will seem more substantial in size as it will be thicker and the lugs blockier as opposed to the sleek look of the sculpted Patek cases. Cant go wrong with either.

Good point. I bet you are correct. I did not think of that. Come to think of if my smallest watch is 38mm.
I apologize if I misinterpreted the post.

On the brighter side my unfair and inaccurate criticism of his post got the discussion going.

well the title was the exact reason I didn't even bother to open the thread .... That tells you that there is a lot of folks that are not even considering 36mm watches. Is just because the current trend for bigger watches, who knows maybe in 10 years goes backwards

Personally I can't see myself wearing anything under 39mm
My personal preference is 39-44mm , thats my range (currently)

I wouldn't call myself a seasoned collector , but we have plenty of them on the forum and I bet they will Chip in eventually, and give some valuable input to the OP

Cannot compare apples to oranges. The type and width of the bezel and thickness of the case affect the apparent size of a watch. A 5196 at 37mm wears very big and a 5127 at 37mm wears very small.

Thanks for you insight my friend....

That one thing sad about it, that now days it all about trend and the hype of 40mm - 48mm watches.....

When you ask those people would you wear a 36mm watch, they will said, "No way it to small"......

Ask them again would you wear a Rolex Daytona Ref. 6239.... They will all said, "Hell yeah it my grail watch"!!!.... I told them them guess what buddy, it only 36mm.....

What a hypocrite.....

Glad to help and thanks for the kind words. My wrist is just under 6.75”. Great point You make about Vintage Daytonas which are 37.5mm as you never hear any complaints on how small the pieces are. I owned a 6263 Big Red and my only complaint is the ridiculous prices people are paying because I would like one back in my collection

I think 37 mm would fit you perfectly. Do you have any wrist watch pics?

This is 36 mm Patek PC on my 7 inch wrist.

"Hello" Doctor.....

Bingo.....!!! The 36MM grand complications on a 7 inch wrist.....

You have some awesome watch collection my friend......

Can't even tell the different between 36mm & 37mm.....

As for the dial size.....

I have measure my Patek 5146R dial and the measurement is 31mm.....

On the Rolex 36mm case and Rolex 40mm case Submariner, the dial size measurement is 30mm...

On the Rolex Daytona 40mm case, the dial size is 31mm same as Patek 5146R...

Sorry to bother you again Doctor since you have a 36mm and 37mm Patek...

So my question is what is the dial size....??

I really appreciate if you could measure the dial size on your 36mm and your 37mm grand complications....

Your help is greatly appreciated....

Best Regards,
Tony

PS. Almost forgot to post some wrist shot of the 36mm watch with the wrist size 7.30 inch.....

The only thing I have in 36mm is the Rolex Day-Date and the Rolex Date-Just...

Hopefully the Patek 36mm will not wear and look any smaller than 36mm Rolex....

Patek 5196 37mm

Rolex DJ 36 mm

The Patek has less of a bezel so it seems larger than a 37mm

Unfortunately I don’t have pics to share, but my 36mm 3940g wears smaller than the 36mm Rolex explorers I used to have, possibly due to how thin the Patek is

Case thickness has a lot to do with how big a 36mm Patek will be. Typically, the thicker the case the smaller it will wear.

Comparison

On the wrist, they 'size' the same. However how a watch wears, depends on many factors as I am sure you are aware. How the lugs flare out, if the case back is rounded or flat, whether the bezel is concave or convex, etc. As an example I find the Langematik Sax-0-Mat wears much better though it is larger than my Daytona. The best way, of course would be to try on both watches.

In the words of Mr. Goldberger, it is very important that you touch a watch.

This... is resurrection day for old threads it seems... but the above hit the nail on the head. Key factors include:

- Thin case wears large / thick case wears small
- Thin bezel (= large dial) wears large / thick bezel wears small
- Empty dial wears large / ACs + PCs etc wear small

Most important for me is dial size - I am just as happy running around w a 34mm 3998P Calatrava as w a 40mm 5711 Nautilus as the dial size is very similar.

Wrist pic of the 3998, if you would be so kind! Wouldn't mind a side by side to the 5711 too
