PP 5212 or AP Code 11.59?

Hi all,

Two new watches / calibres from Patek and Audemars, not really the same style nor complications.
The prices are close, prestigious houses for both,

But which one would you buy?

I think I would go for the Patek and you?

Not the base or chrono code but the PC I would take over the 5212

AP now seems to be a failing brand. CODE11.59 is atrocious. Even RO and ROO now look tiring, with their infinite variations and limited editions. Patek and Vacheron win.

I would only take Perpetual Calendar CODE11.59, only if it's 40% off from MSRP.

Are we talking about these watches?

https://monochrome-watches.com/audem...-photos-price/

If so, I'm not feeling them AT ALL. It's AP, so I'm sure they're well made but that design. No.

I think the 5212 has some issues but the Code 11.59 has far deeper, larger issues.

5212 could be highly collectible as one of very few stainless steel calatravas PP ever produces so I'd rather put my money there.

For sure the new 5212A. Seeing some real wrist shots/videos, it's looking to be a real hit with buyers (already is on here)..

Come on, the Naut and Aqua are now going thru exactly what the more basic RO and ROO have been, with mainly tangential changes only.

The Code is something different but this new Calatrava is more interesting to me, its looks and functions are non-conventional but I give extra points for that, worse is to be bland and the same as everything else.

The 5212 is rapidly growing on me. The AP isn’t.

So is the LN and the BLRO going? It would help fund it :)

If AP made a no date code in SS I’d take it over the 5512. I don’t see much in the 5512 but I see less in what AP is offering with the code line.

In short I’ll have neither. Much better options out there from Journe, Gronefeld, PP, VC and Lange.

The BLRO is going, as is the DJ41.

I’m waiting on something else (hopefully not waiting too long)...the 5212 might come further down the road.

I’m thinking that then LN (which is modified) together with the Explorer cover the Rolex bases pretty well for me...

5212 definitely. I do t know how to feel about the handwriting, but it certainly is unique. Cool complication too.

I like the case shape and lugs of the Code, so it’s not all bad. The face and hands, though, grate on me a bit. And at that price point, they really needed to execute on the whole package.
