Incoming high value
I'd been wanting a 36-38mm manually wound piece to lighten things up on my wrist. I saw this (H69429901) at my local AD, but when his "taking care of me" price was all of 8% off, I passed. Ended up getting a steal on this a week or so later, and it arrived Friday. It's a gem.
Wasn't into the bead blasted case at first, but in-person I like it, plus it makes for nice variety in my small collection. Ditched the OE strap without even trying it on, for my usual one-piece perlon favorite. The date-less dial is the real win though -- infinitely better imo. The lugs are certainly a bit longer than I'd like, but not a big deal. I ended up with the brown dial because it was such a bargain, and again, happier with it than expected. (My others are black dials anyway.) I also wanted to make sure I got the 28,800 bph ETA 2801-2 movement in case they axe it in the near future in favor of the H-models with mega power reserve. If you're thinking about one of these models, go for it! |

Awesome pickup, I think that's my favorite Hamilton reference (agree the lugs could be shorter). Hamilton are a great brand and definitely undervalued, but I like the new direction of the company (ditching larger, more busy looking models for traditional, well-sized military references).

Congratulations! That's a great watch and I'm glad you got a good deal on it. I've been thinking of picking one up since they were first released but the long lugs and fauxtina have so far prevented me from getting one. I agree that the current movement is the one to get, so I'd better get moving on it if I want to get one!

I honestly didn't notice the lugs until I had it on my wrist. And I'm normally not a huge fan of fauxtina, but I don't mind it on this one. I think a large part of my willingness to accept that stuff is due to the price point and overall quality, movement, and brand. Plus a manually wound, no-date watch in this size at anywhere near this price is (as far as I can tell) otherwise impossible to come by. I love the GS SBGW231, for instance, but it's over 11x the price. You should def get one! |
