5712 vs 5726
Two pieces with similar retail price and complication but the 5712 is a lot more popular.
Not trying to debate which one is better but simply trying to understand why the 5726 is the least popular of the family (especially the A-001) even though it has a quintessential PP movement in a quintessential PP case. Is it just looks and personal preference? |

If im not mistaken its because the case is thicker. Just like the 5990, 2nd best nautilus after the 5740 in terms of complication but the thickness makes it less desirable than 5711 and 5712.

It's probably because of the thickness and micro rotor movement on the 5712.

5712 with the micro-rotor takes the cake.
It also has a pretty unique dial layout and I believe is thinner? |

I prefer symmetry. 5726 is also more legible, and it is AC. 5726 is a little thicker but not much. With the new blue dial, I vote for 5726.

5726 was not popular in the past cause collectors didn’t like an annual calendar in a sports watch. They felt this complication is better suited in a dress watch. I prefer the 5712 due to the thickness but the blue dial 5726 is really nice.

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated :-)
Didn’t realized the 5712 had a micro rotor and was that much thinner. I do prefer the symmetry of the 26 but now I get why some would prefer the 5712. Never realized an annual calendar was more of a dress watch movement either. |

The 5726 is 10% higher than the 5712 at MSRP, the secondary price is also higher.
I prefer the 5726 over the 5712 because I like calendar complication. At 11.3mm, it is thinner than the Rolex DJ and it never bothers me. I like the looks of Patek AC layout. IMG_06042021_073630_(1080_x_800_pixel).jpg |

5712 has date, seconds, moon phase and power reserve...with a funky asymmetric face.
The 5726 is an Annual Calendar complication (day, date, month, seconds, moon phase) and only needs adjustment on Feb 28th each year with beautiful symmetric face. IMO 5726>>>>5712 |

The 5712 fits better on the wrist, for me anyway because I like a low profile, and I can't really explain why but I like the face on the 5712 better, the functionality seems to work for me but obviously it's only personal preference.
I went for the 5712g because it combines the sports look with a leather strap giving a hybrid sports/dress look and it's 18k white gold so it also satisfies the feeling of it being special and not just a SS watch. In my humble opinion the G is a combination of everything that is good about Patek in one package. |

I like the A-001 version of the 5726 for the same hybrid sport/dress look you mentioned. But you do have a point with the WG being more special. Well done |

While I really like the 5726, the 5712 is has the most mesmerizing dial of any watch I've seen. They asymmetrical dial works so well when it shouldn't. It gets my vote. Plus I love the thin profile and the micro rotor is
Also, I think the grey dial / gray ring / steel combination which Patek discontinued and replaced with blue dial, looks better. So my vote goes to the 5712. |

5726 has the best dial lay out in my opinion, which makes it way more beautiful than 5712

I had the choice between the (grey dial) 5726/1A and the 5712/1A...This is obviously quite subjective, but I overwhelmingly felt a connection with the 5712. The chameleon blue dial played a part, but for me the original Genta proportions, the asymmetric dial "that weirdly just works" and the 240 "micro rotor" movement also helped make the decision easy.

I think it depends on which profile fits your wrist better. The look of the dial comes second.
I find the 5726 is more pronounce and elegant. It attracts attention from distance. The 5712 is more sporty and causal. In my points of view, if you are going to have more nauts i would take the 5726 as it would stand out from the collections of 5990 5980 5740 5711 etc. If you plan to have less than a couple of nauts, then probably 5712 as it wears better. |

I have never tried on a 5726. But the 5712 is the most comfortable sports watch I have ever owned. Did you know that the 5712 is lighter than a Rolex pepsi/batgirl? I didn't until I weighted them a few weeks ago! A watch with this number of complications has no right to be so comfortable on the wrist!

Both great and it's certainly a matter of personal preference. My take: the 5712 clearly wins. It has a slim case profile like, like a Nautilus should, the most stunning automatic movement (the 240 micro rotor, which in the Nautilus family is only present in the 5712 and in the 5740). Power reserve is also a cool feature in the 5712. Last but not least, the dial... The 5712, imho, has one of the most creative and daring dials in the industry. It magically manages to look perfectly balanced, even with its asymmetrical layout. Super jazzy looks and definitely out of the ordinary. It's my favorite watch.

I’m not lucky enough (yet, but working on it :)) to own or even try either but from what I know I completely agree with everything here. I also have a small wrist so for me the size is very important and I imagine 5712 will fit well but not 5726. So another clear vote for 5712! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

5712
The 5726 is too thick for my liking and I am no fan of its particular AC dial layout - I'd prefer a date ring over the 24h ring and don't appreciate the use of different font sizes across the 3 windows. The 5712 is more interesting and edgy, while 5711 is a lot more beautiful in its minimalism. |

I don't understand how anyone can say the 5726 is too thick (5990 I would understand), it is not thick at all and wears extremely easily. Understood it does wear thicker than a 5712.
IMO, I love the dial of the 5712, with it being very busy, the 5712 wears VERY small on the wrist wear the 5726 I think looks better optically on a normal sized wrist. Blue 5726 for me.
