Milsub in use caught on film?

I thought this may be of interest to Milsub fans. Freeze the video at 1.57 minutes and it appears to my eyes to be an issue Rolex. I may be wrong it may be something else like a milgauss. The film was taken in 1964 so take a look and share your thoughts.

Its a sub, you can see the insert. Not clear enough to make it a Rolex

This is what makes me think it may be a Milgauss as those mines sometimes had anti handling devices built in. I believe early Milguass were similar to subs.
I can't really see the RN buying knock off Rolex back then...Maybe nowadays!

I dunno, Matt. I'm seeing the look of a 6541 or 6543. Which would also make sense since they'd be defusing magnetic naval mines that washed ashore.

Looks like a Submariner to me.
Too early for an issued 5513, maybe an A6538 or 5510?

I froze the picture at 1.27 and think I could see the crown guards so I would say sub rather than Milgauss now.
Must have been a bit of an ad hoc public information film as the mine has conveniently had the det cord in place for a controlled explosion before they even approached it!

Looks like a milgauss to me. Every other marker on the bezel seems thinner.

I think Jeds guess is good. I kind of see a crown guard at some point and the bezel is a chinky steel one to me. It could perhaps be a A6538 with the silver bezel. Very hard to judge from this quality. A Milgauss has a compeletely different bezel (not meaning insert) than what I see.

Interesting to see such a tight shot ;) and while the film was made in 1958 the events depicted are from 1941. I don't think they thought much about historical accuracy in the days that they made this.

I'm pretty sure that Buster Crabb would have worn a captured Rolex-Panerai 3646 watch from one of the Italian charioteers. Crabb was in awe of the diving equipment issued to the Italian navy frogmen which was far superior to that used by the British navy divers.

The Submariner used in the film is partially factual...correct brand!

Beautiful Milgauss! Are the round orange hour-markers of this Milgauss with luminous material?
