New Explorer My AD invited me in for an “appointment” UK
So I have been on a list for an Explorer 1 since December 2020, I called my AD yesterday to say what’s happening now the 39mm is discontinued, he said the list is now void. I said well I have been waiting so do I at least get pushed up the list for the new one? He said well you are the first person who has called who was previously on the list for an explorer 1, and then booked an appointment with me at the AD for Monday 8pm and asked me to bring photo ID? This hasn’t happened before they already have my name, number and email address etc, why do they want me to come in the store with photo ID? He didn’t say why, but could it be that he has what I want in store? Or is this what they do with everybody now? Thanks
(As you can probably tell I just don’t want to get excited or my hopes up) |

It’s just to register your interest in the new model, I wouldn’t get excited if I were you

What if they offer you the 39mm or ask you to wait a short time for the new 36mm? |

he probably wants to be sure that you are a local, where your ID shows that your face matches an adress in the area. Good luck!

Nothing wrong with a dealer wanting to verify where you live. They want to make sure you are still are a local customer.
Moreover, fraud and scams are rampant. Dealer wants to verify you are the person with whom he spoke on the phone. |

I registered for the 36mm the day it came out, same deal, handed over my ID - the AD in Geneva said they won't take applications over the phone anymore... which does to be fair make sense, the last time I was in Geneva airport I overheard the dealer there politely telling the man calling from LA that he couldn't be on the list for the OP 41 no matter what.

Having had to register for a Submariner at Bluewater when they were launched last year it was a painless process and found me wearing the new Sub within 4 weeks of the launch date, maybe this is the same and you will get a watch in double quick time.
Good luck.

Surely they can't be getting 2+ new explorer 1s in the next coming weeks, can they? Maybe they are going to interview both of us and pick a winner! |

As somebody who has owned a MOP datejust on a jubilee before I would not get the jubilee again. Oyster bracelets feel more stronger/masculine and less dressy Good luck! |

I have a few bits on waiting lists there but not chasing anything at the moment as in the process of moving house, but if the call came the piggy bank with emergency funds may have to be cracked open. Good luck on Monday guys.
