Oysterquartz

Im currently on the hunt for an oysterquartz. Have never owned vintage and want to get my feet wet. This model is just too cool, and can't seem to find it anywhere.

There are always quite a few two tone ones being sold, but the all stainless steel or all gold ones are rarer.

Generally, the majority of the ones I've seen recently have been polished to an extent that the sharp lines on the case where it angles down towards the bracelet have been rounded.

Here is a really nice 17013 currently advertised on the Palm Springs Craigslist for sale for $4500.

There's a TT on the Denver CL also. $4250. As expected, the photos aren't great, but it looks promising.

Anyone ever try to shove a 1570 and a non quartz dial into those cases? It’s a really nice case

You mean the wonderfully chamfered sharp OQ bracelet? It's absolutely awesome. I wouldn't say it looks cheap. And it's super-comfortable.

I have to emphasize Zapokees input here! The OQ bracelet is amazingly built and one of the most solid Rolex bracelets ever built (same level as some 6-digit bracelets)!

Strange question, but how noisy is the OQ? I always think that I would like to add one to the collection, but the only quartz watch I have owned was a Swatch, (it was a gift) and I hated the harsh 'click' every second, which you could hear without holding it to your ear, and at night, I had to keep in my sock draw, I just couldn't stand it, so this has put me off quartz. Is there a click noise? is it discernible? With the passing of time my hearing has deteriorated, so maybe its time to look out for one.

They’re on the louder side for quartz and you’ll often hear this characteristic mentioned in reviews. Im used to it by now so it doesn’t bother me.

It's not terribly loud. I think this characteristic is exaggerated among people who don't have one.

You can hear it if you put it to your ear, but otherwise not so much. It's a really nice-quality tick, too . I can sleep easily with mine.

it's an audible tick for sure, but it's like a soft, muffled tick. Keep in mind that the Oysterquartz is solid metal/gold so it is *NOT* going to sound obnoxious like a plastic watch!! It's a tick that is softened by all of that metal and it actually sounds kind of COOL!

Oh it DOES have a beautiful tick IMO. A good, "solid" tick!

It’s similar but not the one i was referring to...from what I remember, they strapped a real singing mic next to an OQ and filmed its ticking...quite weird the more I think about it : )

you mean model 1630 (2tone auto in a quartz case) and model 1530 (SS auto in a quartz case) - yes, Rolex tried - great watches.
