Always, always check the watch beforehand. I’m sure they sized it on you before sending it?

Well if they would just make them use plastic tools that wouldn't be a problem. I bet plastic tools would be strong enough to use on a bracelet while soft enough to not scratch the links.

Wow, that would be unacceptable to me too. I had an AD damage screws and scratch links once (but not as bad as your pictures) and that was all it took for me to get tools and learn how to do it myself. No AD is going to be as careful as you will be.

I have had the same results from RSC.

Nobody resizes my watches but me! Buy the right tools and do it yourself.

I doubt you will get a new watch but insist on link replacements.

I can’t comprehend how such a damage could be done. Clearly not the right tools were used. I would be pissed. New bracelet for sure

This is very good advise. Invest some time in learning how to do it yourself and save the aggravation.

AD damaged screws and links on a new watch. Exchange watch or replace links?

That’s exactly right. Screwdriver was too small and they mangled it. I would be furious as well. Honestly, there is no possible way the person sizing it didn’t see how badly they mangled it. They chose to ignore the fact they ruined the screws and scratched the links. I would be shipping it right back to them and returning it.

If your local AD takes care of it by giving you new screws and lightly polishing the outside of the links, it will look brand new again and you won’t notice a thing. It’s not an ideal solution but it might be your best chance.

Absolutely awful job. I hate to see what these clowns are doing to their PM pieces.

I've had 2 ADs mess up the screws when resizing, but not nearly as badly, just slightly chewed up slots.

Unfortunately, it seems one of the Rolex rules here is that the watch has to be resized before it leaves the shop. Thankfully my AD has this kit and did a perfect job on my recently acquired BLNR:

Butchery! They should at the very least replace the links and screws. I'd push hard for a new bracelet.

I don’t really do the AD thing for watches but if i did, no way I’m letting anyone size my watches but me. If they want to watch me do it in front of them, maybe lol. the difficulty level is maybe 2/10 yet some of these ADs can’t figure it out.

Ouch, that looks terrible. Having done my own resizing I can see how they could damage the screw slots if they weren't careful/used the wrong size screwdriver (which would still be unacceptable IMO), but how did they damage the holes in the link AND the side of the link?? Looks like they dragged the screwdriver along the side of the bracelet. I would speak with the manager or owner, hopefully they'll make it good with a new bracelet, and would not ask them to size any future purchases.

They seemed to have mastered getting them to remove the stickers, maybe they can use that method with bracelet sizing.

I do all my bracelet work myself. I have the proper hollow ground flat head screw drivers. If you work slowly and carefully and put two layers of blue painters tape over everything that you could scratch you should be fine. I have never myself ruined a screw head. I have managed to make minor scratches underneath the bracelet taking it off the watch to put on third party leather straps.

Rolex would do the world a favor if they did two things:

- freely sell small parts and screw drivers
- use a torx head instead of a flat head screw driver

Every AD should be required to have/purchase the proper Rolex tool kit as shown in the image above. There is simply no excuse to sell a luxury product without having the proper tools to size a bracelet without incurring damage.

That picture is more than enough to convince anyone on the value of being your own tools and doing it yourself.

Hopefully they take care of it for you. Asking for a whole new watch is a bit over the top. Simply demand they make you whole by replacing everything damaged and your time. That's a reasonable request they should accommodate.

I've alwats sized my bracelet but I was pretty excited about the watch purchase. And them being an AD, I was under the assumption that they are more than capable of adjusting the bracelet since it's a pretty simple task. Lesson learned.

My AD has this same kit. Did a great job sizing my bracelet when I bought my Sub.

Not my point. When someone magnifies something 10x times and expect outrage they are gonna find it.

To those who suggested that I ask for a bracelet replacement, what's the advantage of this instead of asking for individual links? Are those finished differently? I'm thinking that bracelet replacement is more complicated which could then damage the case.

That’s what happens when an amateur tries to size a Rolex bracelet!

Ask for a new link(s) and screw(s). It’s pretty easy to do it yourself if you have the right screwdriver.

You can always return the watch if you’re really upset about it.

I don’t think asking for a new bracelet is a reasonable request though.

Like you mention they obviously don't know how to properly add/remove links.
I forgot about the Warranty card being in the OP's name and may have been a little aggressive in asking for a new watch. It just annoys me that an AD would send out a watch in this condition.

New links or bracelet but don't get them to size the watch.

I would request to get a new one. No worry about the warranty. They can fix it.
