5226 deployment

My AD seems to be confusing me and I’m looking for some info here. Are there different deployment buckles for 40mm vs other case sizes? I’m trying to get a deployment and strap for my 5226 and my head is spinning. I believe he is trying to say I need the strap/deployment from the 5326g, but that is 42mm. Are the lug dimensions the same as the 5226?

Thanks in advance.

The 5326G is 41mm but I think the best way to confirm is to call HNWA. You can also place a direct order of the deployant clasp with them.

A deployant is not sized to the case diameter, eg. 40 or 41mm. It is sized to the strap ends, not the lug width (eg. 20mm). So first decide on a strap that fits the lug width and that has the proper ends that fit an available deployant size. By example the strap on my 5212 is from a 5172 Chronograph and is sized 20/16 mm = 20 mm at the lugs and 16 mm at the deployant, so I use a 16mm deployant. Standard strap lengths are 115/75mm for a pin buckle and 125/65mm for a deployant. Confusing I know.

That’s what I tried to say to him (via email) and he kept referring to the 5326. Im going to go in tomorrow and talk with him in person but wondering if anyone knew if the strap size was same in width at lug for 5226 and 5326. I asked him for deployant strap options for a 40mm watch like the 5226 and it went sideways.

As Ichiran suggested just call Tracy at HSWA in NYC and she'll fix you up and you can buy directly from them. She's the expert and very helpful.

Very curious to learn the outcome. I really dislike the effect of pinhole clasps as they ‘ruin’ the newness/most of the beauty of a leather strap in 2 days wearing, certainly if the leather strap is a bit thicker. Someone on this forum recently advised to order the deployant clasp of the 5935A-001 instead of a white gold one because it is of steel and hence much less costly while
being way more durable. Makes sense to me as the clasp is always scratching first in my use, no matter how careful I try to be and having an office job (I guess it must be the side of the desk, the metal of my laptop that I am carrying around the office all day or the zipper of my work bags, have not been able to find that out).

Im going to take the advice above and call HSWA early this week and get a better answer. I’ll keep you posted

5226 and 5326 have same lug width so the 5326 straps and deployant will fit fine on the 5226.

My AD said I would need the 5326 straps but could fit the 5935a deployment, I wasn’t worried about a wg given costs. They confirmed this with Rhone.

Yes the summary (from owning both watches):
- 5226 and 5326 have same lug width
- 5226 straps are different length and too thick for the deployant buckle (the long end won’t thread through the buckle)
- so if you want deployant on 5226, you’ll need to get 5326 straps and a deployant (steel or white gold both work)

I think the current Men's Patek straps from 19 to 22 mm at the lug taper to 16mm.

Any idea the cost of the wg vs the steel deployant clasp ? Additionally, I use the Patek shorter straps as they fit my 6.6 in wrist much better. Would these fit ?

New WG 16mm deployant is $2,753 USD as of 2 weeks ago. I have one listed here for $2,250.

So it is in fact a deployant and strap from the 5326, which will fit. Only issue is the tan strap in short is on backorder. So I ordered the black with the deployant. Less than ideal as I much prefer the tan but I’ll try to get that one later on.

My SS deployant was £480 for my 5212 and it works perfectly. It’s the same as on the new SS Worldtime. I’m waiting for 5226 as well and will see how the steel looks. Gold is a big jump in price and will mark up a lot more.

Yeah.... i mean its a 40K watch. I am with you on the steel being cheaper but wanted to keep it consistent. My OCD would have got the best of me otherwise I am sure.

Hopefully getting the SS deployant next week for my 5212A. What strap have you fitted? Do you have any pictures?

I'd like the 5326's beige nubuck calfskin but I need the short size and it's not currently available.
