Question about a new Seamaster PO rubber strap?

I really like the new orange and black rubber strap for the new 2016 omega Seamaster PO (I will include a picture) and i want to order one for my 45.5mm Seamaster PO i got from 2015.

My question is if I got the strap for the new 45.5mm chronograph Seamaster will it fit the older model case of the same size?

I don't think so, the new strap is very different and the bracelet even has a kind of glidelock I seem to remember and I think I was told these won't fit older models, different lugs too.

That's a bummer if correct.

With the higher price points, the strap/bracelet is a real selling point so they want you to buy the whole thing.

When I was at the boutique in San Diego about a month ago, I asked that question and was told the new rubber straps will not fit. Of course, who knows for certain. The boutique employee mentioned the thickness of the new models is different, and doesn't match the profile of the previous generation's rubber strap.

That's a shame but I'm hoping you can find some alternative if you wish to keep your current watch.

I think i'm going to order it and try to fit the new band to the older watch. I should be able to find a way to alter the band to fit my watch.

The lug width on the new 43mm model is 21mm, so at the very least there would be a gap.

I would get the strap for the chronograph because that is also 45mm.
