I have smallish wrists (6.75) and 36mm is still the smallest I would wear and have worn. However, my daily is the BLNR 40mm. A 42mm is just too big for my liking.

34mm would look fine up to a 6.25" wrist.

As said, if you got fine wrist it looks OK. I have 7 1/4 wrists and wear anything down to a 36mm Explorer or Datejust, which I still think looks/feels OK because they are on a metal bracelet. Anything smaller, especially on a strap, is tough, perhaps the right vintage one.

40-42mm is the perfect size for me. I have tried 36mm and think it looks too small on me but I'm quite sure that with some time wearing it I would realise that it's probably all in my head. I wouldn't go down to 34mm for me personally though. I don't think it would suit my 7.75 wrists. I find the 36mm DJ's look small on me initially but I think this may be down to me taking off a 40mm in the store and putting a 36mm on straight after it.

I have a Rolex date which is a 34mm and I wear it all the time. I have a 7 inch wrists and I think it suits me just fine. I also own different sized watched right up to 42mm and I have never had a problem with sizing with any of them.

34mm for me is a tad small yes, but I think it I makes it quite understated and gives me a clean look without my watch being over the top.

I recently changed my 214270 39mm Explorer to 114200 34mm OP with Champagne dial. I never did look at my Explorer with such "in love" eyes. I have 6,7" wrist. I do feel a bit peer pressure from my, sporty +40mm, wearing friends. I think, in the end it's all about your self confidence and how you see yourself with the watch (and if You care about what other people think).

34-36mm is perfect gentlemen's size, lies neatly under cuffs if needed.

Don't understand the "sports" craze either... IMHO they strike me like grandpa's big squarerigger 4dr... yeah so it's got a 7lt Hemi and could go like stink, it's still an odd look.

When I want to do Odd Look, I dig out the Boy Size collection

dayum they sure get looks when half the table has dinnerplate Pans.

I have 8 in wrists and wore a 34mm for years. Again, no one ever noticed it as a Rolex or cared. I bought it for me and it suited me. Now the DD36 suits me perfect too. DD40? Doubt it. I'm content. Happy. Not chasing fads.

One practical advantage of smaller watches is that they seem much less prone to dings and scratches, and slip effortlessly under the cuff - for those who care about such things.

That said, I find 36mm to be my ideal size for dress watches.

i've got one of these on layaway right now, this one is the nicest i've seen in quite some time though, mines missing a lume plot, but otherwise perfect. mine's a swiss only underline dial though which really peaked my interest. stunning watch, can't wait to get mine on my wrist.

IMO 34 is fine for me but not as a daily wearer. Have an older Cartier tank that equates roughly to 34...caveat for me is that I need to wear it a few days in a row...the first day I put it on I think “wtf this looks so awkward” but by the second or third day i like it much more, and right around this time it goes back to the drawer lol. Won’t get rid of it due to sentimental reasons but def don’t wear it often.
