New shiny car stuff
New cat back exhaust for my VW just showed up. Hopefully going to throw this on tomorrow. I need to fab up an adapter pipe to my 3" downpipe but that should be pretty easy. I'll finally have a full 3" turbo back system on the car again!

This. Is exciting.
Nothing like increased air flow. Enjoy the transition.

Very nice! I remember reading you have a mk6 GTI? I do as well
I didn't feel the need for too much more power (especially since the mk7s are so much more tune-able) so I went with a catless 2.75" and a Remus axle-back exhaust. Also installed a Forge intake and went with Revo stage 1. Never went on a dyno, but good enough for my butt sensation! Oh, also went from stock Detroits to BBS CKs, before finally settling for these VMR V701s: Please share more pics of your build when it is complete! |

Cool little machined aluminum box for the exhaust valve controller. I have a feeling this cost me a few bucks when they could have just put it in a plastic build box. Going to be hidden in the console anyway. Oh well. Gonna enjoy it while I can still see it!

That's a cool build Sir! My friend has a mk7 GTI and it really is a great car. It handles awesome. I'm very impressed with that car! I used to have a MK6 Tornado red GTI. Currently have a Rising Blue MK6 Golf R. Mods so far are HRE FF01 wheels with Michelin ps2's, Integrated Engineering stage 2 IM pro tune, IE velocity stack intake manifold, IE FDS intercooler, IE high pressure fuel pump, CTS charge and turbo discharge pipes with turbo muffler delete, neuspeed intake tube, Ultimate Racing de catted down pipe, AWE switch path catback, IE dog bone insert (kept breaking down pipe brackets using launch control), P3cars boost etc gauge, private label clutch masters stage 4 cerametalic full face clutch and a 19lb flywheel. The car will make 18psi on the line with launch control . It's good for about 400 crank HP and a mid 12 1/4 mile. Very fun car despite it burning through MAF sensors like a fat man at a hotdog eating contest. IE has a sale going on their 450hp twin scroll turbo kit tomorrow........trying to resist

Sounds like Won's got the BBS wheels. I've got HRE flow forms. I'll be installing exhaust on Black Friday assuming I don't finish on thanksgiving. Good luck at the track!! Report back how it went!

Heh the NSX is mostly down for a new clutch and a new bearing in the steering rack. I like those BBS's! I believe those are the same model on the Ferrari 360 Stradale right? VMR's are sweet too. I was looking at BBS CH's for the VW and the flow formed VMR's but couldn't get the VMR in silver. Cost to powder coat silver put them at the cost of the HRE so I went that route. I'll get BBS CH's one day. Can't get them out of my head. I'm really happy with the HRE's too. Went up 1" in diameter and .5 wider. Each wheel still came in 1lb less that stock. I threw the exhaust on today and it sounds great! Lots of popping and crackling with a nice growl to redline. I don't feel like I picked up much power but these modern valved OEM catbacks flow pretty good to start with. Tomorrow I'm going to put in the controller for the exhaust valve so I can cruise around in stealth mode at the touch of a button

I had my finger on the trigger to put my car into the 11's tonight but thought better of it. Big turbo will have to wait until next year I guess. Did pull the trigger on a carbon fiber steering wheel though. Those E63 wagon numbers look pretty close to CTS-V wagon numbers. Really hope they keep making these brutal wagons! I want to get one eventually!

My kombi is stock (577hp, 590tq) and so far no serious compelling itch to tune it since it’s my daily hauler. Going back to see if I can get into high 11s and another 1-2mph trap. The 2018 E63S wagon just ran 7:45 at the Nurburgring and is offered for sale stateside. Hopefully, other manufacturers (Audi, BMW, Cadillac) will offer hot wagons here in the future.

YESSSSS STEVE!! AMG for the Win! Nice numbers, that is one hell of a car. I have attended many AMG driving academy weekend courses all over, and the one constant with fellow drivers doing the course was, when asked the question by the instructors of which car gives you the most giggles??? Besides the obvious answers of cars like SLS or AMG GT etc, the one constant from all the dads attending was the E63 wagon was the one we all loved and giggled the most!!

How do you like the new Mustang? Used to have a 2001 Cobra. The new car seems like a big hit!

They are a lot fun. Great engine and with a few suspension mods they will really carve up canyon roads.

I have to say, anyone on the fence about a valved exhaust, it's worth every penny! I use that track mode/touring mode button several times a day! Love it.
