WOW. That’s all I can say.

I saw these in person, and really really REALLY understand the love for Lange now.
The finishing and workmanship is amazing.

I’m seriously considering trading my Explorer 2 + cash for one now. What would you do?!

(I have an Explorer 1, Submariner, milgauss and Rhodium YM40 in the collection currently. (And occasionally wear my wife’s Tiffany OP36).

Have any of you traded Rolex for ALS?

WOW. That’s all I can say.

Stunning watch.

I would do it.

Caveat: there is one thing that bugs me personally about the outside date in white at certain angles. It clashes with the silver dial to my eye and the offset level of the left and right wheel is really visible to me. For that reason I like the 1815 series and pretty much any ALS that doesn't have the outsized date execution. Vacheron also has some beautiful dress watch options.

Do it! ALS is a totally different league and you can always buy another Rolex fairly easily while Langes take forever at times

I don't think you'd ever regret doing that it's a major upgrade in every sense.

I sure would. I'd toss the Rhodium YM40 into the sale process to justify the difference between the Saxonia and the Lange 1 if there's hesitation due to price. That said, make sure you'll wear the Lange as its a significant expense without good resale value.

Thanks all, yep completely agree- such an amazing watch.

I do wonder whether it’s make a good daily? Anyone wear an ALS as a daily? Seems like you could definitely dress it up or down. Perhaps the 1815 line is even more suited to that.

I sold a 126610LV, 126710BLRO and a Lange Saxonia to fund a Datograph. Zero regrets.

Haha that’s what I wanna hear.
My wife just doesn’t get it! She asked me this evening ‘where do you draw the line and stop going up?’
What do I say to that! Haha

So let me add some nuance. I have had the Dato for about a year and a half. I wear it less frequently. My Rolex pieces are still the most worn. The reason is I ride my bike to work, give my kids baths, etc, and it's just so high value that I can't help but be careful with it. My most worn watch is still a steel rolex. I personally think a Rolex and a Lange are perfect compliments. If I went one watch I might go with a haute horology steel piece like a VC OS with the 3 straps, but the single watch collection ship has long since sailed for me.

If I drove to work I would wear the Dato every day.

That’s interesting to hear. I do live a very active lifestyle, but have other sports watches I could wear when I’m on the river or in the hills with the dog etc.
I just love the idea of a classy watch that is very understated.
Over the last year I’ve had more and more people recognise my watches and it actually causes me some embarrassment sometimes. (I’m a physician and a lot of our patients are not well off).

Yes, trade and get a Lange. I think the Lange 1 is more versatile for dressy/casual compared to 1815 line.

Agree with others. 100% do it if Lange catches your eye. You won’t look back and the problem will be when you start looking for your second

Looks like I’m shopping for a Lange.

It’s what I wanted to do, but sometimes you need to run things by people who understand to make sure you aren’t being dumb/too spontaneous

Do it; you definitely won't regret it. If you are doing white gold, it will also be a strap monster too, so you can get a lot of cool looks.

I sold an AP Royal Oak to fund a Lange 1 in yellow gold, it was absolutely a step up and I haven't regretted the move at all. I wore it as a daily for awhile, and now I wear it probably 2-3 days a week.

Wow, massive move. Glad you haven't regretted it! Post a photo of your Lange 1!

Make the deal, you absolutely won’t regret it.

Currently own an 1815 Up Down, two Rolex and a vintage Patek. Tried on a straight Lange 1 and a Lange 1 Moonphase in pink gold on Saturday. One of them will be joining the collection. Haven’t quite decided which one yet.

I love mine. I bought my second about a week after. Only have the 1 now. I gave up a Rolex that I wore a lot to help justify it. The thing is I never wear the Lange. Don’t regret the purchase by any means but it just sits there.

They’re gorgeous watches

I did it myself.

Few things to consider:

1. A WG Lange can replace many of the Rolex in your collection. And, a bit of your collection overlaps. Are there less worn ones you could offload?

2. Take a look at the YG and RG options - they’re stunning as well.

3. At 38mm your wife can wear it too - a blessing and curse in my case.

At 38mm I'd go for the Lange 1 moon phase since it has the day / night disk that the 41 doesn't.

I vote yes and completely understand and relate to your desire to have fine watches that average Joe cannot identify. You’ll get that in spades with ALS. Go for the L1. Are you aware of the thought process behind the design?

Say that sounds like something my ex wife would say. If she says I thought you were only married to me, tell her exactly. Saw that on a meme somewhere.

Would you consider the 1815 chrono? It's beautifully balanced, slim and has a gorgeous movement compared to L1 and Saxonia big date.

I like my Rolexes but ALS is completely at a different level. I have a Lange 1 moon phase and considering 1815. I will let Rolex go before ALS.
